The Acura NSX is finally, mercifully, upon us and Acura is not stopping with the street car. They are taking the platform racing with the NSX GT3 variant. The NSX GT3 is not a hybrid like the street variant and the twin turbo 3.5 liter direct injected V6 sends power solely to the rear wheels.

The GT3 variant is quite different for this reason but it retains the same block, heads, valvetrain, crankshaft, pistons, and the dry sump oil system of the production car. It certainly is impressive so many production engine pieces carry over to the race variant.

The exposed carbon body looks awesome and aggressive. Do not expect that to last though as the race cars will get whatever livery is dictated by the teams racing it.

It is going to be interesting to see how the platform does in competition.
