Screwing them in tight spaces is a pain in the ass plus you never know when its tight enough. You can screw them until you damage the silicone hose. You have to guess when they are tight enough.

I see, I would figure these have been installed enough that an experienced installer would know exactly how to tighten it.

I had the helix (new one) and cut a good friend of mine a deal on it. My new FMIC is ER., ordered a long time ago.... My IAT's all else being "roughly" equal are the same if not a touch better. They are both nice units as well as CP-E, AMS, and, others probably. Another good friend has a sweet setup on the big tom and it's IAT's are better than mine *taken the same day and time* - but - he put in more money with custom fab than I did. For me, I'm just stoked to have almost any upgraded intercooler, the stock is just pathetic.

Just the front's, lets for the sake of it get a tape measure and do the cubic volume of both Click here to enlarge Also, most people don't talk about it and it's hard to quantify - but - what about fin density and design? Ignoring end tanks..

I just love all those funny comments regarding this $250 IC, especially the ones comming from the vendors!
Total cost for my IC, including install and material, was $300. No more or less.

Can I buy a Helix/AMS, including install for $300? No.
Does my car perform well during full throttle? Yes.
Does my car perform well during normal use? Yes.
Is my car one of the fastest N54's in Sweden? Yes.

Please skip this kind of talk. I can't imagine anyone believes it.
Is your core anywhere as efficient as a cp-e or AMS core? No.

I don't know really... Do you?
The only thing I really know is that it's performing very well. That's good enough for me.

Exactly. This is why I made my point before stating the big Tom intercooler in almost everyone elses case is going to run 5-700. Who's gonna pay for my time of removal of the bumper, all the cutting and trimming, the welding of the brackets to the intercooler, making sure it all fits? 300 including parts and labor? Not happening under my roof...support your companies here that make us quality products...not some dude in Taiwan making intercoolers for 50 cents an hour.

Gah fo real...atleast if you do, go with the Korea brand and feed some of my cousins hahaha...nah only question is: why would you buy a BMW then put something that's not quality tested and quality built for it? I mean I'm all for saving a buck and getting good parts for cheap but if you're going to do something, do it right ya know? it's like buying a bad ass LED TV then putting the $#@!ty wal-mart speaker in your set-up or buying a nice couple million dollar house and putting target furniture in it...Not knocking on anything, it is what it is, but MOST of the times, quality costs some money... why we have to support them while they're trying to rip us off ? I'm 100% sure they can be more reasonable with pricing

There is definitely a decent profit margin on the top-dog intercoolers (AMS, HPF, CP-E, etc), but to me the quality engineering and construction is worth the extra money, and I do not see it as being a rip-off. It also makes me feel like I am helping fund future products for my vehicle.

We don't HAVE to support them, go ahead and buy the Big Tom setup, that is the beauty of living here.

We have to run a relative high profit margin when we sell HVAC systems, not because we want to rip-off anyone, but it is required to stay afloat and continue to build a better company. Quality engineering and employees do not come cheap, not to mention material costs.
