Cobb Tuning Accessport ECU flash now supports naturally aspirated Porsche 991.1 Carrera, Carrera S, and Carrera GTS - Dynographs
Excellent news here as Cobb continues to expand their Porsche product offering. The turbocharged Porsche models tends to dominate aftermarket tuning but Cobb is not ignoring the naturally aspirated 991 generation. The Carrera, Carrera S, and Carrera GTS now have Cobb Tuning Accessport support.
The following vehicles are now supported with firmware and Off The Shelf Maps :
2012-2015 Porsche Carrera (991) MT/PDK WM
2012-2015 Porsche Carrera (991) S MT/PDK WM
2013-2015 Porsche Carrera (991) 4 MT/PDK WM
2013-2015 Porsche Carrera (991) 4S MT/PDK WM
The following vehicles are supported with firmware and Stage 0 (Non-Performance) Map :
2014-2015 Porsche Carrera (991) GTS MT/PDK WM
2014-2015 Porsche Carrera 4 (991) GTS MT/PDK WM
Cobb does not have OTS performance maps available for the two vehicles above but that is only a matter time.
Let's take a look at the gains starting with the 3.4 liter Porsche 991 Carrera:
Not bad at all. You get another 18 horsepower at the wheels and 10 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. Keep in mind these are Mustang dyno numbers.
Now let's look at the 3.8 liter Carrera S:
Up to 30 more horsepower at wheels on 93 octane pump fuel and another 27 lb-ft of torque at the wheels.
Considering that the 3.4 liter Boxster S and Cayman S use the same Porsche 3.4 liter flat-6 we expect support for them to follow.
The good news now is the 991 Turbo guys are not the only ones who will be having fun.
