Best photo I've seen of the standard GT350. Even the base car looks great:

To R or not to R, that is the question.

Another thing I think they did right with this car is that the GT350 emblem is small on the side. Those 5.0 logos are huge and just scream "Hey, Hey, Look at me. Look, I have a 5L engine in here"

I don't understand why the configurator doesn't let you put stripes on the red R.

That is the GT350R-C from Multimatic. The new car has won 2 of the 4 Continental Tire races (GS) it has competed in.

Fall Line still runs two E92 M3's in GS class. Bimmerworld is just in ST class with F30 328i, which doesn't perform too well. Bimmerworld this season started a new sister team "Next Level European", they run all Caymans. Caymans rule the ST class, 3-series with the big F30 chassis just doesn't cut it anymore.

Supposedly Fall Line was going to maybe start running a F82 M4 in GS at the end of the year. But no one has seen them testing, so I have doubts.

I drove 12 minutes this morning to my office, seen 14 mustangs.

That is the biggest downside to me.

Who cares? I dislike mustangs, always have. But I really really want this car.

There is even more 3-series where I live. Hasn't stopped me one buying multiple M3's.

Yup, Austin Cindric. He is the son of Penske Racing president Tim Cindric.

Billy Johnson drives one of the cars too. He is a regular on the M3 forums.

If you're going to upgrade the suspension, might as well not get magneride at all. You can find wheels that approach the carbon fiber weights. My TE37SLs at 18x9.5 and 18x11 weigh about 18lbs a piece Click here to enlarge The carbon fiber wheels are wider but weigh about the same. I'm sure there will be some good options Click here to enlarge

I've been following this car since rumors of it began swirling 2 years ago. Very exciting times. I've heard the motor did 600hp on the dyno with open headers, so it may be a tad underrated at 526hp.

I guess I can live without the carbon wheels.

Is the track pack even necessary? The magnetic ride?

Do the GT350 and R both have the same size tires?

They are wider and taller. The carbon rear wheel on the GT350R is 19x11.5 and weighs 18lbs. A 19x11.5 TE37SL would be well over 20lbs.

The only forged wheel that will come close to the GT350R weights are new BBS FI-R. But even those would be 1lbs+ more at same widths. They also don't even sell them in GT350R widths. FI-R are not exactly cheap either at $8k/set.

    Two 18x11 TE37SL weighed.

Here is what a 19x10.5 TE37 weights, so add another 1in in width it would be even heavier.

There is no aftermarket wheel I'd rather have than these carbon fiber wheels.

An underrated high revving naturally aspirated V8 would be incredible see in this day and age. I don't know how much they can really squeeze out of it.

I'm loving this car and just imagining 550 whp naturally aspirated. The Corvette is pretty freaking awesome too though.

Good times to be an enthusiast. We aren't going to get many more like this one.

The upcoming CAFE standard increases are going to ensure that cars like this will always be a limited release, if made at all. Another reason to jump on this car while we can.

Yes but they require a fleet wide MPG level don't they? So Ford has their bases covered from the ecoboost stuff to things like this.

    What's BMW's excuse?

Yeah, it's a fleet average, but sometime during or after 2020, it goes up to 53MPG... that's a LOT of hybrids to offset a few big V8 cars.

Maybe BMW will catch on and have a performance resurrection just like Ford has done over the last 3-5 years. Maybe.
