GIAC continues to push the 2.0 MKVI GTI and has released what they term their Stage 204 'Clutch Buster' file. Why they call it 204 instead of 2.04 is anyone's guess. The software requires an upgraded intake and downpipe and clutch upgrades are recommended for manual owners and Stage 2 DSG software is recommended for dual clutch owners.

The stock MKVI GTI baseline is 183 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque on the GIAC Mustang dynamometer.

The 201 software on 91 octane pump gas with an AWE intake and exhaust increases output to 241 wheel horsepower and 287 lb-ft of torque which are some excellent pump gas gains.

The 204 software (with the addition of AWE downpipes) with 91 pump and a 40% blend of E85 allows an additional 18 horsepower at the wheels and 22 more lb-ft of torque at the wheels for a total of 259 WHP and 309 lb-ft of torque respectively.

That would be where the clutch buster name comes from as with the ethanol mix GIAC was able to push things even further. The 204 software ultimately allows an ethanol race blend and for owners to get every ounce out of their GTI although we would have loved to see the numbers without the AWE downpipe which no doubt is contributing to the gains.

However you look at it, another 76 horsepower at the wheels and 114 lb-ft of torque at the wheels with the 204 file is major improvement without even touching the stock turbo.
