Evolve Supercharged M3 goes 10.5 @ 132.66 in the 1/4 !!!
Congrats to Steve, Evolve and Undercover Performance for taking the number 2 spot (oh so close to number 1) in the all time fastest (world record) 1/4 mile supercharged M3 category!!
@undercover @Imran@Evolve
Here is the thread that was started about the car and how he ran a 10.5 @ 132.66 :
Doing what I can to help ALL of us DCT guys.
I never had a DJ Dyno with the E625 kit, so I scheduled one for this past Monday (3/30) at PSI Proformance in Lansdale PA. Filled up on 93 octane and off I went.
While I was there, I called Atco Raceway to see when they had a private rental available. Turns out they were drying the track for one that day
Once I was off the dyno, I headed straight to the track (roughly 70 miles), stopped just long enough to get my number and got to work.
FINALLY DCT DRAGSTRIP TESTING TIME!!
So, I was using Hoosiers on Apex ARC8's, and have the GTS DCT S/W.
Unbeknownst to me at the time, the GTS s/w does NOT let you set 5500 RPM for Launch Control. I wish I knew this beforehand.
Either way, it worked at 3500 rpm and Im not sure it would have helped considering the track prep was not great. It was good, but not great.
First 2 passes I clicked off:
Both of those bumped me into the #2 spot for E9x M3's. #1 spot for unmodified S/C kits (overall #1 is running 10+PSI and a Giant Ice/Water tank mounted in the trunk)
But it got even better. With a few more hot-laps to try and run down the pump gas I had in the tank, I couldnt wait to add the Racegas I was itching use..
I ran about 10 more times with almost no deviation even as the DA was rising, 10.5-10.6@129-132mph in -470DA to -33ft DA
Around 2:30 I finally got the gas down to below a 1/4 tank and added the 100 octane and tune to match. I had the guys respray the starting line for us because we were going all in now..
I did one "easy" pass to keep tires warm and get the racegas in the system and let the adaptations set in. Came right back around to stage again and let her rip!
Like a bat out of hell the car launched!
Sadly, shortly after I shifted to 2nd I heard the SNAP and all the lights came on and the car stopped accelerating.
Long story short, we got the car back to Undercover Performance ( who does all my work) and we found the problem.
May i present to you, the FIRST "known" broken E9x Driveshaft
We could be wrong, but Ive never heard of one breaking. As much as it sucks to break, at least its an easy fix.
It also lets us know that the clutches are doing their job transferring every bit of power Im throwing at them. Bad news for me, but good news for the community.
To summarize:
* Dodson Clutches are working well
* Expect to upgrade the Driveshaft if DragRacing
And most importantly
*My car is a ROCKET ( Best ET 10.544 / Best MPH 133.33 )

Ok now I am really interested in these Dodson clutches. Can anyone give any info on how easy it is to switch over and adapt them ?

The most exciting part is that they work!!!!! Steve has a running M3 with them and he even broke his drive shaft by hooking hard!
@undercover installed them, i'm sure they can comment

Mother. $#@!er.
That's COOKING!. You should go with a CF drive shaft this time around and maybe hit up Apex to see if they have ever fit one of their 17" wheels on our cars. That way you can throw get more traction/sidewall on the back wheels.
Breaking Driveshafts aren't always a bad thing. Yeah, it sucks, but it's kind of cool. Not many BMW's are out there snapping them, that's for damn sure.Last edited by MFL; 04-05-2015 at 03:50 AM.

Evolve supercharged BMW DCT E92 M3 S65 V8 goes 10.5 @ 132 in the 1/4 mile in negative density altitude
Mid 10 second stock internal supercharged E92 M3's are becoming more common as more owners take them to the strip. The record currently is 10.46 @ 135.13 but that is from a heavily stripped out car running in negative density altitude with some question marks regarding the fuel and boost used. Regardless, mid 10 second performance is about what one can expect on a well prepped strip from a supercharged DCT M3 pushing 8+ psi on drag rubber.
This car ran 10.5 - 10.6 all day but in the process broke its driveshaft. Things break on the strip, that is how it is. The better prepped it is the better the chance is of something breaking as the torque has to go somewhere if the tires are hooking and not spinning.
The 60 foots for the most part are in the 1.7X range which makes it somewhat surprising that the driveshaft gave as nobody else who has launched in this range has broken one. It could be a bad shaft or it could just be time for an upgrade to a DSS carbon unit. Based on the 60 foot it does not look like launch control (capable of 6200 rpm launches) was used. With a supercharger 1.5X-1.6X 60 foots should be possible as bolt on cars have done 1.7X's. The car was not pushed as hard as it could and should be out of hole.
The car is running Dodson upgraded clutches and Dodson is the only company to have a real working solution for the BMW M3 DCT. The proof is in the 1/4 mile results.
The claim is the car ran on 93 octane but when people claim pump it is best to assume race gas or some kind of octane boost (possibly from meth injection). If trying to set records why run pump gas unless you want to act like there is soooo much more in it?
Undercover Performance prepped the car and plans to retune it. There will probably be more boost and some more octane with a more aggressive file if some of these things did not already take place.
Regardless, mid 10's are essentially the norm now. There is room to hit low 10's. It's a shame more supercharged cars do not hit the strip but most M3 owners tend to be the kinds of people who are afraid of breaking things instead of pushing things.
The runs were done at ATCO (one of the fastest East Coast strips) in negative density altitude up to -470 on.

That is the best looking BMW I have ever seen !
What color is that?
It is rather orgasmic looking.
I need to get a time to come out and race that car with my Porker, they will trap about the same but the DCT will be quicker........ from a roll it should be closeDriving fresh air now

Is that LostMarine's M3? Is he banned from here, he disappeared a while ago?
Consistent times, very nice.

That is LM's car. He is banned from here.
He ran all those times on 93 oct. He had too much in the tank because he dynoed the car that afternoon and then had to drive to the track. He ran the car till the 93 oct was almost used up and then put race gas in and on the first pass after the race gas he broke the driveshaft.... so no runs were on race gas. If he did race gas he would have had the record IMO.

Mid 10 second times are NOT the norm lol. I can count 4 cars that have gone 10.7 or faster.
Props to LM for going out there to make some passes.
BTW, my car was on pump gas and was not "heavily" stripped out. All specs were posted.
Just about anyone that is trying to make quick passes removes their rear seats. It just makes sense. I'll be back out there with a few more mods to see if I can go 10.3 or faster

Then you're wrong because the capability is clearly established based on the trap speeds and ET's by now not to mention how many cars you see in the 10's and how the M3 easily broke into the 10's well before any other E9X.
Running mid 10's on a blown DCT is what one should expect. It's not a fluke, it's normal.
But you don't have much dragstrip experience anyway.BRAND NEW IN BOX 991.2 standard/non-pse SPW cat bypass pipe for sale - $899 shipped

Oh ok... so since 2008, the record holding 1/4 time for the E9x chassis and M3 is 10.46, this car managed a 10.54, and there are only 8 cars in the 10's on the official 1/4 mile fastest list but its the "norm". The current record holder @M3ntal is also commenting how 10 sec times are not the norm. I think the chassis is at the point where people are perfecting thier kits, tire choice, weight reduction, etc. so there is now a formula to get to 10's, but its not the "norm".
Your right I don't go to the drag strip, thats by choice as I don't want to beat on my car. I only roll race. You don't race at all because your car hasn't ran in 4 years

Yes, this is what you can normally expect from a 130+ trapping E9X M3 providing it gets traction. It's very simple math but as you admit you don't understand drag racing.
The fact a lot of owners haven't drag raced does not mean this is not exactly what one should expect.
If he doesn't know ~130 is not enough to get you into the mid 10's then you probably shouldn't listen to him.
I don't know it collected trophies unlike you in the past 4 years making your statement wrong by default. But who cares about reality?
I'm not sitting around trying to get mid 10's on stock internals. Whoopty $#@!ing doo I trapped 130 years ago and did it before you, him, or anyone else. What have you done again?
You haven't done any of this. You won't do any of this. So keep roll racing. It's easy. Go do easy things. If you think you are going to be faster with some ESS kit you're deluding yourself.
If I wanted to do absolutely nothing of merit like yourself I would have just left my car at 7 psi with a T-Trim and called it a day. Some people are content being nobody though. I'm not.
Enjoy your car. You have to have it to drive. Also, keep saving up for that house Bob. Too bad you can't build a car and do both, eh?BRAND NEW IN BOX 991.2 standard/non-pse SPW cat bypass pipe for sale - $899 shipped
