question on E88 2012 - headunt
Hey guy's sorry long time,
I wanna make sure I'm using the the right terminlogy.
a 2012 1 series convertible 128 is an E88?
a question on the head unit, can you use an aftermarket headunit in its place.
I heard that if I dont use the BMW one, there is a problem to do with software updates, and errors?
thankxs

It is an E88, yes.
It depends on the head unit but changing it can cause issues. Do you have an i-drive screen?

hey Sticky,
i don't actually have the car yet
I'm looking around, one of the things I want to be able to do is change out the Head unit. For one I already have.
I don't think the one I'm looking at has an i-drive screen
if it does? does that matter,
I think you mean GPS? or is it a bit more involded than that
thankxs Stick !

I'm not sure if they all came with I-drive screens or not. All I know is that complicates things somewhat.
Changing headunits on my modern German cars I've noticed they have used fiber optic cables which makes it a pain or can cause compatibility issues. Some companies specialize just in audio on the modern BMW's.
I really don't pay much attention to electronics, interior, audio, etc. on the cars. I think @ModBargains @ModBargains.com can help you with this.
