APR is already getting another 80 horsepower of the Volkswagen MKVII Golf R tune only - APR Stage I tune dyno numbers
The MKVII Golf R puts out just under 300 horses at the crank in the stock from the third generation 2.0 TSI motor. This left many enthusiasts wondering just how much room there is to tune it. Well, the answer to that question is that there is plenty of room on the stock turbocharger.
APR raises output by 82 horsepower on the crank on the Stage I tune on 93 octane pump gas. That is a pretty massive output change. We love wheel horsepower figures here though so let's look at the numbers on 91 octane, 93 octane, and 100 octane race gas.
91:
93:
Race Gas:
The baseline is a respectable 268 horsepower at the wheels. We would assume APR is just running the dyno on the front wheels and not all four wheels so that will inflate the wheel figures slightly.
Look at the gain on 91 octane, output rises to 333 wheel horsepower. 93 octane jumps an additional 13 wheel to 346. And the race gas figure? 366 wheel horsepower for a gain of 98 horsepower at the wheels tune only. That is incredible.
The torque curve does not fall off as hard as expected toward redline when tuned either. From 2500 rpm to redline you see massive gains through the curve. Is VW being tuner friendly here with their turbo choice and cam profile? Maybe.
At $799.95 and with large gains the APR tune sure looks like an awesome choice for the Golf R. Now we just need to see what Stage II and exhaust modifications bring to the table. Over 400 whp with bolt ons sure seems within the realm of possibility.

Very solid numbers for a tune only 2.0. Mercedes / AMG should be a bit worried that this is nipping on the heels of their 45 series cars.

after the recent $#@! with APR, I am going to need to see some independent dynos. If they hold up, certainly impressive.

the whole terrible investments, blowing money on a fairly subpar racing team, having to sell off the company to mangrove equity and now the whole exhaust thing. APR is starting to falter at the top of the VAG aftermarket.
i am not sure of the entire story, but APR must have burned some guy who goes by "crew219" hard a while back. He's bringing to light a lot of $#@!.

i have no idea who he is/how to contact him. he doesn't really post on the VAG forums i post at because he's usually suspended/banned. He has been against APR for years (you can find posts attached to him in Google that pre-date '08), naturally given the amount of APR fan boys and how much APR spends in forum sponsors, he's made enemies.

does eurocode still sponsor here? Apparently APR sold them a bad supercharger off of their totaled r8 that released bits of bearing into the engine and popped the engine.

I was asking if those were wheel or crank numbers, but I see it now.

Yep, APR is taking a @^#kicking on a number of the Vdub forums. This exhaust scanadal is unreal and they have not helped themseleves but not taking ownership of the issue. They just blame their supplier and try and sweep it under the carpet. I would not spend a dime with APR, zero ethics, zero accountability.
