HAHA! I meant to sticky as in make it a sticky! Who in their right mind has their username as Sticky Click here to enlarge

JK JK don't Click here to enlarge me and that gif is hilarious...I feel much better now, thank you.

EvanL, thanks for the killer info. I'll take a look at all of this tonight. Looks like I've got a project! I have come to love tinkering with cars/motos over the years so I'm glad I landed in a great spot as opposed to "so my daddy is paying my lease, and he gave me a 25k limit to spend on mods...how did I blow my motor with too much meth and how do I get BMW to pay for it before my dad freaks out and kills my amex black card???"

OK I'm sort of confused now. Is the BT cable the same as the cable type that you linked (the DCAN one)? I have the Dcan type cable that I got online. It's not the one from the link but looks exactly like it, said it was for our cars....do I need the OTHER official bavarian vin coded cable also? Thanks all!

Yeah. Bavarian Tech is a different cable and does vin lock.

Burger Tuning (forum sponsor, pretty sure it's ok to link) sells a single-vin cable here: http://www.burgertuning.com/scanner.html. Of note, the BBFlash utility does not consume a VIN, but using the Bavarian Technic application will.

You can look at about 100 billion different things with the BT cable/software. Most are not helpful but for some science project troubleshooting things I've been doing.... immensely helpful. Very powerful stuff. I normally only use about 3% of its capability.

Thanks all. I removed the DP Fix and set the JB4 to auto-clear. CEL isn't coming on and my MPGs are already back up to the 18s range. Now I just need the right cable so I can fix this the correct way! Anyone have one that's locked up since I don't need the vin anyway?
