This footage is from our second fastest pass of the Chicago Wannagofast event. As luck would have it we lined up next to a brand new 2014 McLaren MP4-12c Spider.

The McLaren is stock and our E63 AMG has a tune and prototype downpipes/catback

WOW !!! Insane guys I see you really have the tuning down especially "torque limiters" in 4matic system. 2.9 0-60 in a family sedan is just silly

Very cool matchup here between two very different cars. The only similarity is that they have twin turbo V8 powerplants. The McLaren of course employing the M838T 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 with 616 horsepower stock. Unlike the AMG M157 under the hood of the E63 AMG, it does not employ direct injection. The E63 AMG here is a 4Matic car and AMS displayed earlier this year their 4Matic M157 AMG tuning prowess with the release of ECU software.

The E63 AMG in addition to the AMS ECU software also has prototype AMS Alpha downpipes and a prototype AMS Alpha catback exhaust. The McLaren of course is a Spider which means some added weight although the difference between it and the coupe is roughly 80 pounds. The difference between the MP4-12C Spider and the E63 AMG 4Matic however is roughly 1100 pounds.

A stock MP4-12C is pretty damn fast as it sits. A McLarenBoost member took their stock MP4-12C fitted with the 616 horsepower file to the drag strip and ran a 10.6 @ 135.

That should put the AMS Alpha 7 E63 AMG 4Matic performance into perspective considering the E63 edges it out with a 156.90 trap speed to the McLaren running a 153.89.

These are two very fast cars.

Very impressive indeed! I was at PBIR when the Dragtimes MC12 ran 10.4 in the 1/4 stock with R888's on the back. That shows how insane your E63 is.

No it didn't it looked to me like the E63 just started earlier. The trap is close so I don't know what you mean.

can't hear the MP4 engine noise well, or the E63 is loud i guess, there is no big difference on the trap speed as @Sticky said and the E63 started first

Actually, if you watch closely the McLaren got the jump, but the Mercedes launched a bit harder and got ahead.
