You can only update through the OBD connector.
But it is important whith what cable to do this for speed.
The dealers do this through an ICOM cable, which is essentially a network cable to OBD.
We have a DCAN cable, which is a serial cable to OBD.
The speed of data transfer is MUCH lower with a DCAN cable.
Therefor programming your DME with a DCAN cable can take up to 10 hours or more.
During such a long period the chance of having a communication glitch while your car is on a charger the whole time is quite big.
Leaving you in heaps of trouble.
So you can try it, but there is a high chance you brick your car while doing such a long write.

I decided to venture into this a bit as I am currious to see if there is any update for my DCT. However, I am stuck like chuck looking for the ZB # or the ZUSB #.

I went into INPA and printed out the UIF info under the "Plant" option as the "Current" option says something about the data being non-existent.

Where do I find the ZB # or the ZUSB # I assume these are the same thing ? When I go to update the ZUSB there is no data, I just get a blank window even after entering my VIN.

I did - as well as many others - and it required around 15 minutes.
