Evolved tuned E60 M5 vs F10 M5.. Highway roll
Hey guys, a friend of mine raced a F10 M5 that is a mutual friends of ours, with his modded Evolve E60 M5.. Interesting race as alot of people have been waiting to see a properly modded and running V10 M5 against a stockish F10 M5. With my SMG it would have been even more fun for the F10 M5
This 6MT E60 M5 is the same car i posted videos up of recently aganist me. Evolve has really turned our V10 cars into beats, and really puts the power in real world gains! Hats off to them for making our cars properly tuned and fast. I have raced a F10 M5 three times back to back and walked it all times, but i had no video of it, alot of people were skeptical of it, but a properly modded and running E60 M5 are extremely fast, esp on the roll.
E60 M5 6MT:
Evolve alpha N tune
De-catted stock headers
BMC filters with RPI scoops
AP pulley
Magnaflow mufflers with secondary cat delete
F10 M5:
Charcoal filter delete
Turner spot muffler delete
First run, E60 M5 misshifts, second run is clean:

Evolve tuned 6-speed E60 M5 on the highway vs. a stock tune F10 M5
It is always fun to see the previous generation M5 and the current M5 go head to head. You have two M5's with completely different engine philosophies here as the E60 M5 of course has the high revving naturally aspirated 5.0 liter S85 V10 and the F10 M5 has the twin turbo 4.4 liter S63TU V8. This is a race we have seen before and the outcome really is dependent on what modifications each car has. That said, the S85 V10 shines from a roll.
The video is not the best quality (not having an HD camera for this race should be a crime) and also does not offer the best angle but we can still see what the result is. The E60 M5 in the first run misses a shift so scratch that run. On the second run the F10 M5 gets a small lead but as the cars hit higher speeds the E60 M5 pulls impressively.
The F10 M5 is basically stock with the charcoal filters removed and a muffler delete. If the F10 M5 gets a tune, yes, it will walk this E60 M5. That said, a naturally aspirated M5 with a manual transmission pulling the new twin turbo dual clutch M5 shows how potent the S85 V10 is up top. It would have been nice if BMW gave that engine a pair of turbos.

Holy hell. S85s are still great. I wish I didn't hate the E60 interior so much. I keep having dreams of a fully built up NA S85 making like 750 hp...oh man. With those mods this E60 has to be getting close to 590 at the crank...that Evolve tune is supposed to be good for huge gains.

Wow - that's absurd. I was NOT expecting that last outcome. The S85 powered M5 loves that range of speed - nice run. I would think 9/10 times the outcome (considering mods) would be opposite, but still very impressive considering that disparity in power on paper.

There is also the speed limiter in the F10 M5 at 155, I think that may explain the boat anchor effect in the video .
