valvetrain parts + remove head yourself + get reinstalled and timed would set you back a sight less than $4k if you have a GOOD shop locally... plus, larger valve options than what VAC offers.
$4k isn't too bad if it's taken pretty far, the valvetrain parts total probably close to $2k.boop

I see people rev 7300 stock. I don't see why 8k isnt realistic with a proper build and head job.
Well labor is only 4k for the port job from VAC. I have local guys that can do it for half as well, but it's still a pretty penny. The end of this year we will start seeing some 1000whp N54s. With VAC head job, and the new HPFP from vargas and all these kits coming out. It's only a matter of time, I can see the handful of us on this site joining that power level soon.Burger Motorsports

looking at the list of BMW cams they make.. there's sure as hell some that sell less than N54 ones will....
The market is only growing for them at this stage, the more people going built motor/heads/big turbos/big power... if they're already spending tens of thousands and shooting high, why wouldn't they get cams?
don't understand why they'd only do a small run or one off :/boop

no one knows, they don't exist, no dynos or public testing
stock cams have made ~750whp... there's obviously plenty left in them especially with a ported head
But IMO, every little bit helps.. just even slightly more aggressive, bit more lift/duration, keep stock like idle and drivability with the magic of VANOS, breathe a bit better up top for the guys pushing.
people will be spending 20k++ on everything for these motors, $1500-$2k for cams and the benefits they provide is pretty much a no brainer i think.boop
