APR's Stage III Eaton TVS1740 supercharger kit now available for the B8 S5 4.2 V8 - 550 horsepower to the wheels

4.2 liter V8 B8 S5 owners your day has come. APR released their Eaton TVS1740 based Stage III supercharger kit for the S5 and the power gains and performance numbers are very impressive. The S5 is not exactly a powerhouse in stock form putting out 274 horsepower to all four wheels. On 91 octane pump gas with the TVS1740 output goes up by 207 wheel horsepower to 481 wheel horsepower.

The torque numbers thanks to the positive displacement blower also get a huge bump going from 288 wheel torque to 453 lb-ft at the wheels. The torque gain thanks to the TVS blower is instant which no doubt makes the S5 feel like a whole new car with a huge new motor. The 100 octane race fuel numbers are even more impressive with output at the wheels going to 550 and torque going to 501 lb-ft.

So what does this do for performance? A stock S5 does the 1/4 mile in the mid 13's at roughly 105 miles per hour. On 93 octane with the APR Stage II supercharger the 1/4 mile improves to 11.24 @ 124.68. On 100 octane this improves even further to 11.16 @ 126.92. A night and day difference to say the least and what is even more impressive is that this was achieved with a manual transmission.

So what is the price? Either $15,749.99 or $14,749.99 depending on the model year. If you want the full power capability you need an upgraded fuel pump which is not included in the kit. You will also likely need an upgraded clutch. Then there is also the intake and exhaust that should be upgraded to not become a restriction. Yes, this all becomes very pricey but with APR you know it will all work as it should and be reliable.
