Evolve stage 2 w/ gutted primary cats
Hi all, I just wanted to share my experience with my latest Evolve file that i requested to be aggressive. My purchase also came with the GTS-DCT and Servotronic file at the time they had a group buy as well. Options I selected specifically for the engine ECU:
Stage II file:
93 octane
8,600rpm limit
exhaust overrun
My mods:
K&N Filter
MS pullies
Gutted primary cats (essentially a test pipe that will pass visual inspection)
I recently ran a 12.2@116mph with a 1.9 60ft time (rounded to the nearest tenth) with these mods (7-DCT)
Impressions of the file:
Excellent, stronger than my last file, and makes the car feel complete. The VANOS overlap changes and ignition/fueling changes gives the exhaust a harder edged growl at part-throttle, yet still a nice metallic howl at WOT that's an S65 characteristic, yet substantially louder, even with the OEM muffler, with the gutted primary cats. It's hard to describe without experiencing it yourself. It's like there is always a power reserved without needing to amplify the throttle sensitively; power is always waiting to be unleashed at a touch of the throttle, and you get this impression whether 10% or 80% throttle, and the file just makes the car feel like it's at 150% at 100% throttle. The overrun snap-n-crackle isn't an annoyance, but rather an extension to the exhaust noise when aggressively downshifting or snapping the throttle plates closed at higher rpm.
Excuse the zip-tie in the video, that's how I attached my old Samsung Moment onto the back bumper grill (pretty darn secure using that grill, no excuse to not make an exhaust video). The crack-n-pop exhaust overrun is evident closer to the end of the video.

Great thread and great results. Sounds awesome! Can't wait to get my Arc 8s on and give my car a proper thrashing on the strip and on the dyno.

Amazing thing is that with just UDSM MDM and the GTS-DCT software set at max (S5 on MDM), I ran consistant times; all six slips are within a +/- .0X (yes, a couple hundredths, not tenths), with eerily consistent 60ft times. Talk about a perfect set-up for bracket racing! Speaks highly of the stability/consistency that Sal@Evolve managed to create. The cool-down in between is driving from the end of the dragstrip right back into the pit lane, and looking the car idle until it was my turn again (very light night that night during test-n-tune).
