Third generation Audi TT to potentially get derivatives including a four-door sedan - Rendering

A four door sedan version of the new third generation Audi TT? That is apparently what Audi is exploring according to the head of Audi's R&D Ulrich Hackenberg, “We are looking to see if there is more we can do. Could the TT be extended as a family car?” This may not be quite as crazy as it sounds considering that it would give Audi a compact four-door competitor to the CLA-Class although one would think that A3 slots into that role currently.

AutoCar's rendering actually makes the idea look like it works and the product is quite appealing. The sloping rear roof would give it a compact 'four door' coupe with sleeker lines just like the CLA. Think of it as an entry level A7 and it does not sound quite so crazy.

Coupe sales are floundering namely in Europe where they are down 31%. As long as sales of the sedan preserve the TT coupe and help Audi get more money out of the platform AudiBoost can not think of a reason why this idea should not be explored. The CLA-Class is a huge hit and a four door TT is poised to be the perfect response. Feel free to debate the idea but it certainly sounds logical on paper.
