If you end up doing a rebuild on it or anything, we do custom rods and bearings for those engines to get rid of the factory crap bearings.

not concerned about our rods, bearings or pistons. Its the block and mains I'm worried about.

Gotcha. Are the mains studded? It would be a major MAJOR pain to build a main stud girdle, but it would help a lot with block flex and crank movement.... I don't know how you would solve the oil pan issue with it though....

mains are studded. Tool steel. Same as head. Really just concerned about the main caps, block and crank. Hell a 2j with 2 bolt billet mains and hardware will make 15xx. I thinknthis block has better material.

I ve tested oem main caps with girdle, it did not prevent main cap failure.

The only method is to use billet mains + girdle

I agree with that. even that sometimes does not help. I had a friend who had a Grand National with a billet main stud girdle- and was pushing over 45PSI of boost..... The block (still) flexed so much, the studs holding the perimeter of the oil pan all broke off- as in, his oil pan started leaking... then REALLY leaking- then just half ass fell off the engine.... all within a few big pulls of the car over a weekend.

The main studs were the only thing holding the girdle on... and the crankshaft in... pretty scary the block flexes that much!

But realistically all blocks flex- it just depends on how much and how you manage it.... you can take a snap ball mic and put it in a bare chevy 350 block- and squeeze the block with your hands on the opposite corners..... and the ball mic will fall out

So how do you fix the flex?

you live with it, or re-engineer the wheel.

Look at semi trucks. They flex a LOT on purpose. If not, they would be VERY heavy, and the stiffness would fatigue the chassis to the point of cracking/failing.

and some fun flex to watch, just because it's cool Click here to enlarge

Its the same concept. You cannot overcome plain engineering and physics after a certain point. I was trying to give an example of why semi's do not have rigid frames- and engine blocks go the same way. they all flex, some flex more than others- and managing it is only so far you can do before you have to reinvent the wheel.

girdles, motor plates, mid-motor plates, reinforcement, aftermarket blocks,etc.etc.

Does anyone sell billet S54 blocks? I remember Sticky getting an estimate from Dart & that AMS had started R&D for the R35 GTR

S54 does flex at some points, and damages.

Parts / machining / custom made studs help to decrease stress.

I have cut S54 to see the passages, a quarter fill or half filled S54....

As Garth stated, S54 has potential in it.

Nope, Undercover is one of our resellers. I think someone just adopted the name to try to sound more legit. Basically use common sense people, if someone is selling you a kit that isn't even build yet and claims it is shipping in 7 days, pull the rip cord.

Patience is thinning for what? Not sure if you guys are aware but someone was using your name to try to fraudulently sell products, through PM's on the forum. That post was just to inform people that you guys are one of our resellers, but use common sense when buying something. If it's a product that not even available yet, then no one is going to have it for sale.

Quite aware Tony. And I appreciate your support. Don't think I havent noticed!

We are working with local police to help bury this pos, since we have been publicly involved. Spoke with the arresting officer, Detective Borbridge of evesham township Monday. Its really a shame people cant work for their money and have to rip off those that do.

Just dont want my positive post trashed by unrelated nonsense thats all.

    You know it!!!!!!

So on the positive side. The customer has agreed to allow us to build a short block. Before its installed we will shut the gate and let the turbo eat. If it survives, should make between 44-48 psi based on other similar cars we do. It really looks like the only fail point will be main caps if that even happens. Its one of those not if, but when kinda things. Going to have to put a diaper on it just to be safe.

I really want to turn the bottle back on and get my torque curve back.

Not to mention theres at least 75hp in timing down low left. But when the owner says shut it down, you gotta shut it down.

He did offer if I wanted to go farther and was ok with fixing what broke that he was ok with it. I unfortunately had to decline. Cant do it right now.

Still...... Very excited. Cant wait to hit DOR in this.

We raised the car 2.5-3 inches in preparation. No more stance crap. Back to racecar.
