Mclaren MP4 vs Lambo Aventador
http://www.dragtimes.com/blog/mclare...n-12-mile-race
"The title says it all, we came across this video of a McLaren MP4-12C walking by a Lamborghini Aventador in 1/2 Mile Race down an airstrip. While the numbers on paper (horsepower to weight ratios) have always favored the lighter MP4-12C vs the Aventador this is the first time we’ve seen the two in action side by side with a good camera view. From what looks like a 20 MPH roll all the way up to around 170 MPH at the 1/2 mile mark the McLaren has around a 3 car lead.
For reference we ran 10.5 @ 134.5 MPH in the 1/4 mile with the McLaren MP4-12C in our tests."

I kind of suspected that the Aventador would win this

It should be much closer. The McLaren will likely edge as speeds rise.

Anyone know where this race was? I am curious if it was weather and/or elevation? That would make sense - turbo vs. NA - otherwise, I don't understand given the power/weight.
Then again, just looked at fastestlaps, and they both trapped a 136, however the lambo edged it .2sec on the 1/4

The race was at Bakersfield two weeks ago. i was trapping 175 - 180 (the course was less than 1/2 mile which is why my speed was so low) so am curious what fast Laps is. I had the top dog wanting to race me (ford GT) but didn't find out until after my car had been packed away.
Other than one of the sponsors being an idiot, I had a great time (thanks Tony). The people were friendly and a big thanks to Sammy for the BBQ.

I love the McLaren. Very Cool race but Aventador sounds so damn mean when it revs just sitting!

Nice - that's a quick car. Looked like a good time.
re: Fastestlaps (not sure if that was for me) - it's just a website that has statistics (not sure how accurate, but supposedly verified) for stock cars: http://fastestlaps.com
Cheers.

From the first video it looks obvious that the McLaren is going when the Lambo is at the end of engaging 1st gear and taking off (with what looks like no LC). The two cars are so similar that a slight jump = speed multiplication favoring the car that gets the hit.
Also, towards the end the less aerodynamic Lambo seems to stop the lower speed pull prevalent from the jump
I've seen the Mac's pull the 134 traps but i've never seen what seems like a fair race, favor the Mac.Alpha ///N - YouTube: 95CSL

That McLaren was definitely a fast car that day. When I checked, we had a DA early on of about 13 feet, so that probably helps it more so than an N/A motor from what Ive seen. But thats just observation. The McLaren did not roll on very many races. Not quite a launch, but not quite a roll. There is also video of him edging out the modded Carrera GT online. He was definitely quick, but not the fastest of the day.If i recall, he has ran a 10.49 in 2000ft DA a weekend or 2 before the event
