i might pick up one of these for the wifes car and go back to the stock air box, i put my old AFE stage 2 intake on her car but i think its causing some idling issues due to the TX heat, it was fine in the winter but now its hot and the car idles poorly when you first start it up. i think i remember many others having this same problem with the AFE intakes.

You are correct. Because of the AFE intakes' open air filter, it is prone to heat soak especially in states that see high temperatures. The stock airbox is a great cold air design, and these filters make it even better with more flow.

For what it's worth, I've been running this filter in HI where it's hot all year round. No problems... it fits great and no noise.
