The facelift to the E63 AMG added optional 4Matic all wheel drive as well as more power both of which are standard in AMG S trim. The M157 V8 is upped from 447 horsepower to 585 horsepower making for a very formidable car. The F10 M5 remains its main opponent and the question really is how does the updated E63 AMG stack up against the F10 M5? Well, the videos below give us an idea although the outcome is not exactly what was expected.

The E63 AMG S loses from a stop and from a roll. It does get the lead from a dead stop as it should by virtue of all wheel drive but the M5 closes the very quickly. It does not seem to launch, just roll into the throttle.

From a roll, the race goes to the M5. Now, the M5 should have the advantage from a roll thanks to the dual clutch transmission and rear wheel drive setup. All wheel drive also does have higher drivetrain losses but that is one of the reasons AMG gave the car a power boost.

Is the M5 modded? Are both cars stock? Who really knows with a video like this but the result sure is interested. Check out the video below.

We need a member stateside with an F10 M5 to do some runs to clear things up.

On a side note, M6 Gran Coupe with a 6spd is most definitely my favorite car in their lineup right now.

The M6 Gran Coupe is definitely good looking but it's such a heavy bitch.

Stateside drag runs and vids always clear things up. But... the vid is what it is.

Interesting to see how the rear wheel drive versus all wheel drive versions will stack up.

A roll on race between the two would be killer.

no one ordered An S model yet in the area i am living mine will be the second in my city the first was the demo car i raced when i posted the videos so it will take time before finding an S model to race
