Do not get too excited yet but you are looking at a possible addition to the factory race cars AMG allows customers to purchase and race. A CLA45 AMG racing series coming soon? Quite possibly. The car is based on the CLA45 AMG street car and yes it is includes the 360 horsepower M133 turbocharged four-cylinder direct injected motor. The car also gets carbon fiber body panels, roadcourse competition aero kit, and a stripped out interior with roll cage.

The official reveal will come at the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show. Mercedes says the car can be adapted to various racing regulations and therefore could be produced in all wheel drive or front wheel drive versions. The dual clutch transmission is retained for the track. Enjoy the pictures below and expect more details to come next week after the official debut.

I wish all their AMG cars had flared fenders. They enhance the look so much. Anyways, this goes to show that AMG has a lot of confidence in their 4 cyl turbo. Can't wait to see the tuning potential.

The fact they are willing to track it says a lot IMO. Even with the dual clutch too.

Well it isn't in any series yet and Le Mans has turbo diesel cars racing. This thing obviously can't race in ALMS and would get spanked there.

I think we are going to see many mainstream racing series adopting turbo technology....they have to when all the street cars are going turbo. Overall its good, thats how technology gets perfected....through motorsport!

They will likely but the NA motors are still the better roadcourse choice.

Turbos have been used in motorsport for a long time.
