Check out this video overview with an AMG engineer which tells the speifications and story of the AMG M133 2.0 turbo four-cylinder motor - AMG dyno graph

The M133 2.0 liter direct injected turbo motor going into the A45, CLA45, and GLA45 AMG is making waves. It is the most powerful production four-cylinder motor on the planet with its 360 horsepower which happens to be underrated output. This is going to be an important motor in Mercedes tuning for some time to come so let's get to know it. This video features Mercedes-Benz AMG engine engineer Markus Karres giving an overview of the design and specifications.

The motor features a twin scroll turbocharger. The intercooling system is an air/water setup and fairly compact. The direct injection system comes over from the other AMG direct injection motors which hopefully means it has fueling headroom as that usually is the area that becomes problematic when tuning direct injected motors.

Peak torque is achieved at about 2250 rpm so for a motor with this much power there is not quite as much lag as one would expect considering its size. The motor holds this torque to around 5000 rpm. Peak power is hit at 6000 rpm and the redline is 6700 rpm.

Interesting to not is that the compression ratio for a direct injected motor is a very low 8.6:1 which likely is what allows 26 psi on pump gas. Still, a very low compression ratio for a modern turbo motor and an interesting design choice by AMG.

The transmission can send up to 100% of the power to the front wheels and 50% to the rear wheels depending on traction. Impressive? You bet.

Check out the video below and AMG dyno graph. This drivetrain is just awesome.
