F1 2013 - Vettel wins German Grand Prix, 5th and 9th place for Mercedes AMG

The Mercedes team was not able to transfer their qualifying success to the race track this time out. After yet another pole position Mercedes just did not have the dominating pace in the race. It certainly did not help that while Lewis Hamilton took the pole Nico Rosberg qualified in 11th place. With Red Bull Racing drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber sitting right behind Hamilton to start the race it is not surprising that Hamilton would have a tough time holding his ground.

Hamilton was passed right at the beginning by both Red Bull Racing cars. He finished in 5th place and Nico Rosberg in a disappointing 9th place. Mercedes stays in second place ahead of Ferrari with 183 points although this is only a three point lead. Red Bull Racing is up to 250 points after the victory.
