Fraudulent or seriously misinformed seller, buyer beware!!!
There is a guy selling his modified 2007 Audi A4 Quattro ko4 He's claiming 360 whp on 18 lbs of boost with a conservative tune. He wanted to trade Mike (the guy selling his 500hp EVO on here) for the car. Mike asked me about it and i was completely confused. This is the email the guy sent him:
It all started with this, Ill bold some interesting parts
"First of I get bored with cars easy, and I'm just looking for something new. The Audi was built last year for H20 international. I basically put every dime i had into it when i got back from afghanistan. The motor is full stage 2. It has the APR ko4 turbo upgrade, a carbino air intake, front mounted intercooler, and high pressure fule pump; Right now its is tuned for 18lbs of boost, and 360 hp. but it can be tuned up to 20 lbs of boost and right around 400 hp. I prefer to run it a liitle slower just took lessen engine wear. The body work is a Hofele RS4 sytyle body kit, with rs4 style exhaust. wheels are 19 inch vmrs, on high performance contenentals. I also have the stock wheels and tires for the winter. The roof and door blades were painted black ( really painted not some cheap mako crap.) Then i added the old school quattro decals on the doors. they are just vinal stickers, but there really hard to find. Interior wise its all black leather, all stock but in amazing shape. only mod is i had the headrest embroidered to say AUDI. in the trunk there is a 7k dollar custom system. Its got 2 8 in subs hid behind a custom audi ring display. a 12 in sub fiberglassed into the floor. two amps. all wrapped in black leather and lit up with red leds. Car is the awd quattro edition."
I get home and decide to investigate. I email the guy about his Audi:

Apr and dynamic auto time did the build. There is over 12k in the motor. It's a special tune by a Audi master mechanic. I can't give you all the details cause I just pay the bills. If you email dynamic auto tune in Charlotte they can explain what they did to the motor. But yes there is a lot more than just the ko4
Ok so I email the shop who built the car

I'd be happy to tell you about Drew's car. The engine internals are all stock. We installed the Apr K04 turbo kit. Installed a front mount intercooler a Apr intake and a test pipe. The car has never been dyno'd but apr claims 318hp. Below is the link to the kit. Its a great product APR did a good job with it. Its been installed on Drew's car for at least 20,000 miles trouble free!!

Eh, APR recently updated all the reported numbers on their site, they used to be a bit higher than what is currently on there now, which may be why he is confused.
Also, no such thing as a "stage 2 engine build" with the VAG cars, stages just refer to the mods/tunes/turbo, ko4 is generally "stage 2+" or just "ko4"
with those engines you do have to add a HPFP, I highly doubt he did rods/pistons, which would be an "engine build" but not required for ko4 power levels.
You can get the vin to APR and they may tell you what tune is in there, generally speaking they don't do one off or "low boost" tunes. Just canned 91, 93, 100oct.

12K in the motor? Meaning he spent 12K? LOLOLOLOL...
APR 2.0 Kit is like $3500 - $4000
Carbino intake is around $475
Intercooler is probably around $500-$1000
HPFP, probably $500?
Now if he had a STG III kit, which starts around $5500 I could see 12K, but... $30k seems a little much.... (STG III is also around 360hp, so his claim is a bit... well...)
Considering you could get an '07 A4 for probably about $16-$18K (2010 for $21K), slap on the STG III kit and Intake and your looking around $22-$23K
Throw in the Intercooler and HPFP and maybe your around $23-24K... Now throw in your $7k sound system and your right at the price he's asking (not including installation)2017 330i x-drive: Stock

Well, I was certainly not going to trade my EVO straight up for this car. I personally consider it being lied to though when he said "but it can be tuned up to 20 lbs of boost and right around 400 hp". From what I understand 400HP is NOT POSSIBLE on that turbo. Like Phil said, he is either being misleading on purpose to unload the car or is very uninformed. Etiher way, I hope a prospective buyer does some research before dropping $30k on this car. $#@!, I'll sell you a 600HP EVO with a new motor, turbo and tranny for $25,000 haha.

I was, but when someone is trying to sell a car they'll give out any info asked, whether its to get the info out to someone else or even if the buyer or potential buyer isn't 100% sure. I may have known someone who was interested in your Audi. Whats got me curious about the car is its stock internals and a ko4 making 360 whp, race gas maybe? I dont know but you spent 12k on something, I was just trying to figure out how and why.Phill <datastream18@gmail.com> 8:16 AM (6 hours ago)

Thanks
I feel ya. But u didn't show interest in the car I thought u were just some gearhead who was curious. The software is custom fr apr. it has a front mounted inter cooler. Cabrino air intake. A special tune. Lots of stuff. If u want to buy or trade let me know and il send u what u want.drew_macrae12@yahoo.com 8:30 AM (6 hours ago)

I'm going to pass because that ko4 isnt designed to make that power level at only 18lbs of boost, maybe 25-30 but even thats doubtful honestly. Car looks great Im not denying that in anyway but I had an 06 GTI with APR's stage IV (built bottom and top end) with a gt2871r makeing 380whp at 30lbs of boost, thats why I cant seem to wrap my head around your hp claim.Phill <datastream18@gmail.com> 8:38 AM (6 hours ago)

Good luck with the sale though.
Love this little gem
Well think what you want. It's not just a claim. Apr did the build. You should do a little more research.drew_macrae12@yahoo.com 8:47 AM (6 hours ago)

So, how did APR do the build?

That's the base behind the build. I call it stage 2 because we neutered it a bit to work with the trans.
But apr itself built it. We were able to squeak out the Jo because of the parts. It's a custom build by apr. meaning its different than just going to the parts store.

Congrats dynamic installed that a year ago it's a different car now. I don't have time to sit here and argue with you. Your not getting the car so it's not your concern. And honestly you seem way to sensitive about my add.

Im not trying to argue I'm just trying to get facts about the car, I have been screwed once before by something like this and I'm tryin to prevent, if possible, something like happening to someone else. Ill pass along the ride to the forums I belong to, you might hear something from someone else. IDK.Phill <datastream18@gmail.com> 9:03 AM (6 hours ago)

I'm not trying to screw anyone. I'm not a mechanic I just paid for the car. I'm going of the info I got. That's all. I'm not just making stuff up.

So I ended the email there. . . .

Yeah, I bet the person that decides to buy it doesn't know all of this because if they did they wouldn't pay $30k for it I'm sure.
