    AMG 5.5L V8 Twin Turbo

What does everyone think about the new AMG 5.5L V8 Twin Turbo coming out? With the normal version having 536hp and 590lb-ft. It doesn't hurt to keep options open! I just wonder how the C63 will be priced with this in it. I think they are keeping the C63 naming scheme.

Personally, I think it is a badass motor and is going to be a much better powerplant than the supercharged 55's.

I still like the BMW twin turbo V8 better, but the Benz has the displacement. We are going to see a very interesting aftermarket power battle thanks to these.

That is a very sophisticated engine, I've always liked what AMG makes.

When the C63 (C55? or even C65?) COUPE debuts with this next year it is going to be bad ass.
A straight up competitor that will $#@! on the RS5 (just like the M3 does) for around the same price... (~70k)

If they start sticking this motor in everything, things are going to get nuts.

What transmission are they pairing with these?

It looks like they are going to put this motor in the C at some point and if they do.. I might have to get one.

Absolutely but DCT's also have limited torque handling capability. I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of DCT transmission upgrades in the near future!

Actually it will be paired with the MCT which is not a true two clutch system, and relatively speaking, is very slow Click here to enlarge

True, but it may have higher torque handling capabilities which is a plus.

Oh yeah.... it will definitely be re-enforced to handle the high torque produced by the engine. I wonder though if it will be able to handle the torque after the additional mods by the aftermarket community.

I am all about aftermarket tuning capability. Whenever I buy a car the first thing I look for is how easy is it to squeeze 25% more power and how reliable will it be. That is why I chose the N54. As I grow out of this car, I will look for a more powerful modable car. And if this 5.5 TT goes in the C63, you dam right a chip will put this thing at the front of the pack. It comes stock with 536 hp and 569 torque. Chip and you're at 650 hp and 700 torque. Meth injection and you're at 700 hp? No brainer.

Same here... and actually why I chose my car. It just isn't "easy" to squeeze power out of it but it can make huge power.

Kind of game over, why even bother with anything else? Why bother with BMW for that matter?
