N54 Tune Comparison Chart (Detailed)

Very cool. Not sure I saw it but a mention of the flash option for BMS and Vishnu for additional fueling for larger turbos, and/or methanol. Vishnu is ship you ECU, BMS is flash at home but with need for Cobb Accessport.

Why does the chart show a check for "Custom Adjustsble Mapping" for the JB4? Unlike the COBB or Procede which are fully tunable, AFAIK, the JB4 is not (otherwise, I would have switched yesterday).

IMO, they are all great but the key differences are:

• The extra features (2-step, gauges, etc.) of the piggy backs (JB, Procede)
• The expanded logging and ease of installation (zero install) of the Cobb
• The fully tunable feature of the Procede and Cobb
• The advanced auto-tuning of the JB4 (and to some extent, the same in the older Procede maps) is nice as well, albeit not as distinguishing as the prior points.

Those are the key differences that should be called-out IMO.

I've yet to do testing on the stack up tunes from each party. As soon as I do, I will update the chart accordantly.

You can adjust the JB4 mapping by adjusting Boost, etc in the "User Adjustment" tab in the software. Under "Engine Tuning software", you can see that the COBB can be custom tuned with the ATR.

No, I am agreeing that Cobb is fully tunable as is the Procede (2D OL fuel, ignition, AFR target plus 1D boost). AFAIK, JB4 does not have that (1D adjustments are not what I'm talking about) which is the significant different (and it's main relatice shortcoming to its peers).

So here it is guys and girls... This is an updated 2013 comparison chart to compare the popular tunes out for the n54 engine. For those of you that are ready to buy a tune for your vehicle (BMW 135, 335, 335is 535, X635i, Z435i), this comparison chart will help you narrow down to the tune of your choice. The chart is in .PDF format so you can go to links associated with the text. This chart goes in detail and defines all the properties of these tunes. On the second page, you will find a breakdown on the features that the JB4 and PROcede v5 have. Both camps have contributed to this chart as well as reviewed it for accuracy.

I'll be collecting new data as time goes by and tuners come up with more features and improvements to implement to their respective tunes. The chart will be updated accordingly. That said the features listed in the chart are what is currently available in the market.
