A closer look at the top three fastest cars from the Moscow Unlimited event in September of last year including the third place Protomotive VRT1200 997.1 Turbo

Kind of a weird world we live in these days when the Russians have cooler drag racing events than the country which invented said Motorsport. Moscow Ulimited is essentially a mile long drag race which brings out Russia's fastest hardware. How fast? Well, the winning GTR hit a one mile trap speed of 223 miles per hour. This is drag racing on a high end scale for the big boys. The video below takes a closer look at the top three fastest cars.

The third place car is a Protomotive Porsche 997.1 Turbo stated to have a VRT1200 package. Finishing in third place in this company is very respectable. The Porsche ran a best elapsed time of 24.540 with a trap speed of 211 miles per hour. Freakishly fast by any stretch but the top two spots were set by Nissan GT-R's.

The GT-R held 5 of the top 10 spots. Very impressive. Who held the other 5 spots? Porsche 911 Turbo cars coincidentally.

Here is a rundown of the top 10:

    1) #888, Oleg K. — Nissan GT-R (R35) Mk.1 DT1200 (2009, 1200 HP) — 23.658 sec. (358.92 km/h)

    2) #777, Jury M. — Nissan GT-R (R35) Mk.1 AMS Alpha 12+ (2011, 1550 HP) — 24.347 sec. (360.00 km/h)

    3) #30, Sergey I. — Porsche 911 Turbo (997) Mk.1 Protomotive R1200 (2007, 1200 HP) — 24.540 sec (340.26 km/h)

    4) #67, Dmitriy K. — Nissan GT-R (R35) Mk.1 V-Spec Altechno / EcuTek Stage 2 (2010, 1000 HP) — 25.364 sec. (320.85 km/h)

    5) #45, Dmitriy S. — Porsche 911 Turbo (997) Mk.1 Protomotive R1000 (2007, 1000 HP) — 25.390 sec. (326.67 km/h)

    6) #96, Andrey N. — Porsche 911 GT2 (997) Mk.1 9ff 1150 Garrett (2009, 1100 HP) — 25.398 sec. (357.49 km/h)

    7) #91, Dmitriy Z. — Nissan GT-R (R35) Mk.1 HKS P800 (2009, 800 HP) — 25.408 sec. (328.46 km/h)

    8) #15, Andrey N. — Porsche 911 Turbo (997) Mk.1 Protomotive R900 (2006, 900 HP) — 25.464 sec. (324.03 km/h)

    9) #26, Konstantin T. — Porsche 911 Turbo (996) 9ff 900 Garrett (900 HP) — 25.827 sec. (326.08 km/h)

    10) #33, Aleksander P. — Nissan GT-R (R35) Mk.1 Boostlogic Godzilla 1100 (2010, 1100 HP) — 26.737 sec. (324.61 km/h)

Video showing the top three on this list below. GermanBoost will try to make its way out to this event at some point for some on scene coverage of Moscow's performance car scene. Enjoy.

No TT-G's? Especially when this one basically posted (what would be) the #2 spot, 23.861 at 387.51 KMH in the 1 mile

Basically seems that if you want big hp from an exotic, the 997 Turbo, TT-G & GTR are your best options.

Looks like AWD is what's needed when going beyond the 1k whp. I mean, at least for launches LOL. Crazy how its either GTR or 997

I'm sure one of those 1200whp vettes can do it. Just launching it can't be compared to the GTR or 997. Even with WOT box, 16" rims with DR's and an auto drag transmission would still be hard for it.

You have to prep it like for the strip the problem is drag tires over 200 mph. The event favors AWD.

Sounds gouda... what about JDMboost? I mean we really won't be talking about anything outside of Japanese cars... Unless Hyundai decides to get somewhat more serious.

ImportBoost.com has Hyundai covered and even KIA so it's smarter. Not to mention if China actually ever puts together a car that isn't some cheap knock-off.

Absolutely. I would like to enter my car in this event as well but I'd have to do the one later in the year.

Are there age restrictions? Other rules for it?

If it was fully open to anyone i could imagine many other capable engines and cars that could compete

insane how they have to slow the launch and lengthen the gearing so much.. Normally you'd expect those cars and motors to run what.. 8's? Low 8's? Not low 10 high 9.. I know totally different setups.

plus.. Didn't that ford gt set the standing mile wr recently?

At this point, it basically looks like pay a fee to enter your car, bring a helmet & run whatever you got.
