    Less oil consumption on COBB??!!

This is going to sound weird.
Ive had my car for over 2 years now and my DDing is basically the same, same routes etc.. I've always used Motul V300 power 5W 40 since day one. My purchases of the stuff is in bulk and tend to change oil at 4k miles intervals.

Since the beginning i always had to add 0.5 to 1 quart of oil at 3k miles after an oil change, which then lasts till next change, and so on.
My car is FBO and its always been tuned, from JB+ to JB4 to Cobb s1, s2 and then S2+

The weird point is, when i eventually got to FBO running S2+ i have not needed to add any oil!?!?! Coincidence? I repeat,, all other times in the past 2 years ive added oil, but since ive ran S2+ to be precise for the last 4 months and 2 changes ive never had to, using same brand of oil, same amount of course and not had a thing changed on the hardware part, except putting on an FMIC. Keep in mind the car is growing in miles.

    Weird to say the least

I find it weird that I am going through the same thing with what you mentioned. When I had jb4 with fmic and DP's, I always had to add a quart of oil around 5k miles. Ever since I have switched to Cobb, I don't need to add oil around the same mark while my commute is nearly the same, but i may drive more aggressively now thanks to the increased torque. It may be sheer coincidence but worth pointing out just as you have.

That's an interesting observation! Engine does tend to run hotter with JB4 vs COBB. That was my observation when I tried JB...

Car has a lot of opportunity for oil leaks. oil filter housing, oil pan, and valve cover gaskets all leak, and have to be replaced. They often start out as small seeps, which is why they are hard to notice. Cobb has had NO effect on my oil consumption, as I am burning oil, due to high mileage. Give it time, and you'll join the club.

Ive never consumed oil and my car is at 55k. It was daily driven up till a year and half ago. I've tried all the tunes and don't notice any oil consumption with any. I use factory BMW oil, change every 5k and am FBO. I had a procede, giac, jb4 and now cobb.

You are consuming oil, but you just don't notice it, because you are changing y our oil every 5K miles. Try going to 7-8K miles, and you will have a low oil warning guaranteed. At 5K miles you are at or near minimum oil level.

Unless the electronic oil gauge is wrong( really wish they had a dipstick), my oil always shows 5 bars on the level. It never moves from maximum level, and this car will tell you if you are low. I had my AR oil cooler installed and a fitting was leaking and the car indicated low oil and I got the leak fixed. It seems pretty accurate to me.

I don't see how any of that is possible unless it has to do with any vanos adjustements they've done. As for boost being less on cobb are you sure I've seen 18+ on my dyno runs on Stage 2+

COBB Stage 1+ OTS runs at ~16.5psi and Stage 2+ maps run at ~18.5psi...slightly higher than comparable JB4 maps....so it cant be bc the blowby? Correct me if im wrong on the boost levels anyone

at what rpms? IIRC cobb has more taper.. Im not attacking or accusing, just from recollection, JB carries more boost through the rpm range than a cobb map no?

Correct. Especially on map5 with E85 vs the most aggressive COBB map.

Yeah i didnt know if you were refering to peak or through the range...but yeah I agree cobb has a much more aggresive taper than JB maps..Makes sense then for what you were saying less boost=less oil blow by

To be fair you can push E50+ easily on JB4 Map 5 whereas on Cobb you can only run up to E30 off the shelf...I wonder what the comparable boost curves would be for the same ethanol ratio E30 on JB4 Map 5 vs COBB E30 maps? That would be interesting to stack up against each other

True, but comparing my E50 map+meth, I still run less boost than a buddy of mine on JB4 G5 with the same setup (@cwarren)

Yeah but i was running map 1 on JB4 in the old days which is 13 psi, 15-16psi on S2 agg, and now 18.5psi + added timing on S2+, and only on that latest map am i seeing no consumption at all. Same daily driving, same oil. I thought in the summer it would then consume, summer has passed and nothing. Im starting to worry that the sensor is always showing full and it might be faulty.

Makes perfect sense. The richer AFRs will help the engine run cooler hence less oil consumption. Cylinder temps rise faster with leaner midrange AFRs as the piggybacks do.

The maps only have more taper for off the shelf stuff. You can dial in less taper by raising load up top and the WGDC cap.

Dialing in boost takes a few runs to do, but its not difficult.
