What is this noise!? We need a conclusion

The turbo "siren" whine noise has been known for awhile. I always see people saying it's shaft play, bearing noise, complete failure, etc. But what is the actual sound? My turbo's exhibit this sound mostly when it is cold, but it also happens when all warmed up, it's just quieter. Are you guys hearing the same noise?

I am on the stock exhaust, and actually am stock right now. I brought it to the dealer's attention, but they told me it's normal Click here to enlarge

Here is a video of my car (sorry for the quality)

    So my questions:
    1. How many of you have the same noise? Does it still happen when warm just quieter?
    2. What causes this actual noise?

    Thanks alot

I get it when cold and now also a little when warm. I believe it is bearing failure from jamming way too much boost through them.

When you say bearing failure, do you believe it's going to cause us any issues down the line?

Who knows? Will it fail catastrophically, probably not. It will make the turbo harder to spin and will probably eventually cause oil leaking and that siren sound all the time. Past 15-16 psi you can expect this to happen on stock turbos I believe. This is the only reason I cap at 17.5psi. I feel that more will cook them even though I can probably hit 19psi with my E85 mixes.

The video is of poor quality, but you can hear the turbo siren whine if you listen close.

No chirping I am aware of. It's all of the spooling noise you hear in that video. See how it's a deeper, louder tone than the normal high pitch whine?

I can't tell, the shifting interrupts it. And why does Reggie Bush run show up after the vid....colts owned your team bud. Colts fan her from Indiana.

Yea. It's a developed sound for sure, because my car didn't do it when I first got it. I guess I'll just stop worrying about it until it gets louder

I have just started saving for new turbos basically. The $#@!ty thing is that new turbid also means new clutch, Cobb, and if I were doing it right an lsd and suspension mods.

Bro raise the boost to about 20 psi and blow your turbos , get it over with already. I think it's the only way you"ll be happy. And you won't obsess over that noise that only you and German shepards hear.

Nothing is wrong with you car. the problem is the paranoia in your head. Depending on tune, peak boost level, and rpm, your turbos will make all sorts of noises. When I was stock with catted dp's, my wastegates rattled when my revs dropped. With JB tune, and catless DP's I heard the crickets as I reved. Now with COBB stage 2, I hear a whistle similar to yours, but I think it sounds sweet as hell. Also the wastegate rattle on decel, has vanished. All these noises depend on your wastegate duty cycles, so do away with that crap stock ECU tune, get a flash tune, and enjoy your car.

The noise is not in your head. Raise the boost and see what happens is the only way you will find out what it really means though.

It's not in my head. Once the sound began it hasn't subsided regardless of tune, which leads me to conclude damage may have been caused to the turbines. I was hoping for some semi-constructive feedback: Is this bearing wear? Shaft play? Normal sound of the movement of air through the turbine? Regardless of your WGDC values, you still need to build boost, and this is when the noise is heard.

To the individual the made the German Shephard comment, I made it clear in the OP my camera isn' tgoing to produce quality videos. If you can hear it on this video, think 3x louder in person. I'm not going to be boosting 20psi on these turbo's, I am just requesting some insight or possible conclusions to those that had similar issues as my car.

Man I'm sorry I kinda hear the noise , the video has been shown on all 3 major networks and you have been given responses that cover all the bases. I've seen " sound like mine" " that's normal" "your turbos are going" "I don't hear anything"I know noises like this can drive a owner nuts , but the fact of the matter is that even if Terry , Turbo Tony, Rob Beck and Mr. Borg Warner were testing driving your car I can guarantee none of them could say exactly what the noise is or pin point the true nature on the noise. So my point is your turbos make noise, live with it ,beat them dead or take them out inspect them if you really want to know what the noise is.. Internet diagnosis kinda tough
