Porsche states the 918 Spyder laps the Nurburgring in a very fast 7:14

Hot on the heels of the leaked Porsche 918 Spyder brochure (which seems to have been intentional) Porsche has now revealed the Nurburgring laptime for the hybrid supercar. Porsche posted on their Facebook page that the laptime is 7 minutes and 14 seconds with the Weissach package (which cuts weight and offers lightweight magnesium wheels) on street legal tires. If anyone was doubting the potential of hybrid performance, this should change their minds as it is the real deal.

This laptime puts the car ahead of the Lexus LF-A with the Nurburgring Package (7:14.64), 997 GT2 RS (7:18), and way ahead of the Carrera GT which did a 7:28. So what is it behind? The Viper ACR which managed a 7:12.13 and the Gumpert Apollo which lapped in 7:11.57. Very, very impressive although when put in context the Viper ACR sure deserves a ton of respect considering what it does at its much lower price point.

For that kind of money it BETTER run that quick. And comparing it to the GTR is just ridiculous. Very, very impressive nonetheless and considering the kind of mileage it gets makes it all the more impressive. But, I'd take the RSR instead Click here to enlarge

I'm sure it will come. I don't doubt Porsche at their word anyway.
