G-power 725 horsepower widebody E71 X6M Typhoon - Horsepower claims are unrealistic and unsubstantiated

G-power tends to make a lot of announcements with big, bold claims. Their recently revealed X6M Typhoon does not break this mold. G-power states their V3 performance kit ups the horsepower in the twin turbo S63 V8 to 725 and torque to 656 pound-feet. There is no dyno to substantiate this power claim they say they get with a tune, manifolds, and exhaust. From the dyno's we have seen claiming 175 horsepower gained with those modifications alone is not happening but no mainstream sites bother to question G-power's unsubstantiated claims.

The power kit also costs about $18,000 which is simply way too much money. If that pricing for bolt on's is fine with you then the roughly $18,000 wide body kit (extra $7-8k for the carbon hood) should not bother you either. If spending $36,000 is palatable then what is another $35,000 for ceramic brakes and coil-overs? Might as well just give them a blank check and have them put whatever they want on it. We like the body kit, we like the parts, but we would prefer to see a dyno graph or real performance numbers along with more realistic pricing.

The build quality is excellent as is their customer service. The birdseye view of the carbon fiber hood is fantastic. Yes it is horribly expensive but they are not a fly by night operation. They are in the business of selling things people want, not what they need as you guys already know. I would spend the money on a complete E71 X6 M exhaust system from the turbo downpipes to the quad exhaust tips for this. Brembo Big Brake Kit, front & rear. Really liking the Renntech tune for the S63 V8 with 625-hp +/- for $2,995 + installation. I would get some very custom rims. The aero kit, I don't think so. What they did with the E70 X5 M with the Typhoon Widebody and the carbon Kevlar hood that can be painted... ooohh lala. That is a BAD RIDE!!!!!! Take a look below, with the same concept just adapted for the E70 X5 and X5 M with the Typhoon RS Widebody Aero package. It comes with your choice of center exhaust or OEM placement exhaust outlets and a G-Power Sport Exhaust. This thing just screams "get out of the way, on the highway" in the rearview mirror to people clogging the passiing lanes.I am looking to get an E70 X5 M with this aero kit, full Supersprint Exhaust, Brembo Big Brake Kit front & rear, custom rims, engine tune, full driveline synthetics, custom colored interior carbon fiber, carbon fiber engine cover and that hood in carbon kevlar to be painted to match. That just may be about it. Click here to enlarge Click here to enlarge

Expensive but the power claims dont seem to that far off...therese a vid of a X5M with tune only running 11's....not sure what the power is but is has to be up there considering the X5M weighs 5,000+ lbs...with downpipes, exhaust, etc who knows what kind of power this engine can make...cant wait to see what happens with the new M5...

If you look at the graphs out there you will see tunes are gaining torque under the curve but not gaining anywhere near that peak HP.

Wow that is an incredibly ugly bodykit. I wouldnt have my car looking like that even if they paid ME 18k.

G-Power has some big claims that's for sure, but they also have substantial creditability around the entire world. Many of their accomplishments are ones for all BMW tuners to envy in this market..For one, they had one of the most "prestigious" world records any BMW tuning company would die for, the fastest documented/verified 4 door in the world.. The 231mph E60 M5..
Also, Twin charging S85's (kits available very early on),M3 GTS development, 4.8i valvetronic motor development (ESS hasn't show us much from this) 550i/X5/650i ,V12 760i TT development (namely one that'll do 218mph verified)etc.etc.
For one their not very big in the American market place which may be a reason for their pricing. An F10 M5 starts around 140,000 USD in Germany, where as it'll come in around 95,000 here. If G power were to adjust its pricing for the American market, maybe by 40%, it wouldn't be all that out of reach for what your getting pictured. Personally, I think that X6 (I HATE the X6) looks wicked. I kind of see it is as a BMW "Gemballa" or "Ruf" and there's a definitely a market for that (in Europe for sure). ...It's a similar argument for MTM with Audi.
The question is will we get it for our market? As far as power, it could all be about the type of tuning and how much goes into it. I believe PP performance is getting around 550-560awhp out of an X5 M with manifold-catless exhaust-tune. But their certainly not G-power and might not have access to their knowledge they seem to acquire early on in the BMW tuning world (don't take that out of context)

Because they had proof. It isn't G-power's fault necessarily but European tuners are arrogant and just throw numbers around. American tuners provide dyno's and performance numbers. European tuners seem to sell a name brand.

These exist technically but we haven't seen much from them. 1/4 mile times, dyno's, not much of anything really. Precision Sport posted some great dyno's for the twin supercharged cars so we know they work and work well.

Sorry, doesn't matter where you go, tuners throw numbers around with lots of blatant bs dyno graphs. The g- power stuff produces power and the quotes they give are very. It's engineered properly and passes the very stringent rules of tuv. Alot of the upgrades available in he mainstream would not have a hope of hell passing tuv!.This is proper engineering with testing many people are not used to seeing.Let's take some of the mainstream tuners upgrades and sit the cars on the autobahns at 170mph/constant high rpms for 10 mins and see what happens. The pricing here seems real off, I will ask them exactly what's involved.

They definitely have quality products, no doubt about that, but it would be nice to see some graphs from them at the very least.

Anyone notice that G-Power already has over 600hp out of the F10 M5 on a dyno and nobody else has anything yet (that I have seen)..This is why they have substantial amounts of credibility for me

    Show me this?

G-power makes bold claims all the time just like RDsport with little if any support.
