Meth options on a Cobb
Hey guys!
Ok, I swore I would not do meth. But, well, ya.. we know how that all goes. You can see my mods below but meth seems to be the last "easy" way to add power. Unfortunately I cannot get alot of information regarding how it ties into your car if you do NOT have a JB.
So, my question is are there any good meth delivery systems that are standalone? Do they have a failsafe that will cut boost/throttle/whatever if the meth flow fails?
I *think* i've heard Cobb discussing meth maps but, either way, I should still get a decent boost simply by lowering the IAT's. Is that an accurate statement?2008 BMW 535iA | Cobb Stg2+ | FBO | Meth

Hfs-3. Although a basic meth kit will do the job just fine as well.

There is currently no meth integration directly from Cobb. Themyst is working on a boost solenoid bypass with meth on Cobb. Havent heard him post about his findings. Only way right now is Cobb with JB4 To control the meth fail safe.

I asked Rob at Cobb what to buy that he felt would ultimately match best with the cobb tune. He said to hold off on buy a kit until they determine how they will intergrate. This was over a month ago, but I plan on sitting out the winter and hope they have something come next spring. That or I am going to buy a 911 turbo.

Thanks guys! Will probably wait for spring as I don't really need it right now. Hopefully Cobb will have an integrated solution by then.

Whats wrong with a standalone meth controller or simple boost sensing switch?

Nothing. I'm running a bare bones basic meth kit with pressure switch activated at 9 psi and it works just fine. Now if I could only figure out this timing flatline issue!
Just verified it flatlines on pump gas now too so I don't been believe it's meth related and could have simply been a odd coincidence. Car pulls plenty hard even with the funky timing though.

Nothing really. The aquamist system looks nice but I don't want to hack up the interior to put a gauge in. I'm "hoping" that cobb may be able to integrate it into their tune so I can get some data on it. I've been really against meth as it's still somewhat a family car, I may just pull the trigger but it's been difficult to get "good" information (at least for me) to find out what meth systems are dependable and work as a standalone device.
I'd rather not have meth flowing all the time and I don't want to risk the engine if my meth runs dry. Without integrating it into a tune I also won't the full effect so, in short, I can just wait around for a bit (i'm not in a hurry) and see what develops. With my FMIC, my intake temps are generally running about 15 degrees above ambient when cruising and will drop to about 10 degrees above ambient when I got WOT (for a short time then it starts climbing).2008 BMW 535iA | Cobb Stg2+ | FBO | Meth

Meth doesnt flow all the time. You set the threshold by which it starts to flow. You can set it to 11 psi if you want. Right now I have just a simple boost sensing switch. No need for that mumbo jumbo controller garbage. Really simple switch and meth line is all it took.

IMO, doesn't really matter. If you want the best, spring for the HFS-3. If you want something simply for race day, a basic kit and failsafe will be fine.
