2012 W166 ML63 AMG unveiled early - Pictures, video, and specifications

Well, the new ML63 AMG was supposed to be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The internet is making debuts at auto shows almost obsolete as here we have all the details well in advance. No surprises here, the car features the M157 twin turbo V8 and puts out 518 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque with the performance package available as an option to boost these further. The performance package also raises the speed limiter in the ML to 174 miles per hour.

Also to note the new ML is 100 pounds lighter than its predecessor. Not huge, but nice to see. Fuel economy is also 33% better than the previous model. Lighter, faster, and more efficient. The New ML63 is a large improvement.

Ola Källenius, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, notes: “Like its predecessors, the 2012 ML63 AMG sets new standards in terms of performance, exclusivity and an outstanding driving experience – plus the efficiency factor, which is acquiring ever greater emphasis at Mercedes-AMG. As the inventor of the high-performance SUV, we remain true to the philosophy which we introduced in 1999 with the 2000 ML55 AMG and continued with the 2007 ML63 AMG.”

Interior looks a bit sharper but the rear end is awful. Lacks aggression from the front too. I think I will stick with my W164 ML63 thanks!

I agree they didn't do a great job on the rear. I'll have to see it in person though.
