Vishnu PWM meth kit review
This is my intial review as I do more testing and logging I will post more.
Install
Install was very straight forward and hard to mess up. Shiv provided everything you needed for the kit. Instructions were very detailed and pictures and youtube videos were great. The toughest part was getting his huge charge pipe to fit correctly. I dont think anything larger could of fit in that area. You are kind of forced to run dual cone intakes when you buy this kit. I have to sell my brand new injen now. The couple harness changes that you have to make are very simple. Just take your time. The first time doing this kit takes the longest. If i were to do it again it would probably take me 1/4 of the time. If your nervous just install while vishnu is open. I placed a couple calls in to robert and shiv even called me back to help. I couldnt ask for more.
Hardware
I was impressed with the hardware provided and how well everything is put together. I did recieve a AEM brand pump. I was a little disappointed it wasnt an aquamist mist pump. I dont know the reason for this. One other thing I was not to fond of was on one of the connections when you tap into the windshield wiper line, he puts one small pipe into a larger one. I would of liked a nice connector there just to make me feel a little better about meth leaking in the engine bay. It seems to be holding fine though with no problems. I wonder if shiv could offer SS lines as opposed to rubber. It would give me a little more peace of mind.
Feel
Methanol really transforms this car it feels like a different beast.The car just keeps pulling. I took a couple friends for a ride and they could not believe the difference. I was driving when it was 90 degrees out and with the meth the car does not get heak soaked. Just amazing. The meth intergration with the procede is just perfect. Very very simple. I havent logged anything yet i will do that soon. I have a buddy thats running basically the same mods i am with a pps system. We will both log and see how much of a difference there is between pps vs pwm.

I will post up as soon as we get together. Ill prob end up hitting the dyno to. The reason I bought this kit was ease of install and the fact im still under warranty. Yes its expensive but i wanted something i didnt have to wire up. BTW lostmarine i miss my vanguard exhaust it was a head turner lol

Good review. What exactly is the difference between pps and pwm? I assume is has something to do with the signals used to trigger the system?

I need to change those boost vacuum lines near the oil filter housing. I think it's leaking. I like this forum better Matt. Seems the only time you get a response on e90 is if youbdo a jb vs vishnu Cobb thread lol

For fun I programmed the JB4 to PWM the pump and a normal low cost high speed solenoid, and it actually worked pretty well. We've used that method to limit meth flow during partial throttle, shifts, and other transitions, with the JB4 integration. The reality is though that with a closed loop fueling system it's all academic. If you inject too much meth you just wind up using a little less petrol and the air/fuel always stays spot on. You can't over meth this motor.

That is pretty cool. I don't know the real world differences first hand, but the physics in constant psi and controlling an on/off valve are clearly different. It's user preference and the money that you want to spend. I would think though upon stabbing the throttle there should be a delay difference since you already have pressure to the valve with valve pwm.

As it turns out you have pressure either way, unless there is a leak somewhere. When the solenoid closes the 200psi of pressure just waits around behind it whether or not the pump is running. The main difference is in how flexible you can be in metering the mixture. With a PWM pump it takes time to change the pressure and amount of fluid injected. By PWMing the WW kit solenoid we get a little quicker control. But with this application there is little real world difference. With the Aquamist setup they use an expensive high speed solenoid that gives very good control compared to the cheaper solenoid we include but their solenoid is also inherently restrictive making exit pressure, atomization, and overall flow a bit of an issue. None of this metering difference is really anything a customer would feel. They feel boost control and that is where the majority of the time needs to be spent with either kit. I know we still have a few areas we can easily improve there as well. The better boost is mapped relative to methanol flow the smoother and faster the driving experience.
The reality is if I thought there was any real benefit I'd just buy and resell the same high speed valve Vishnu does, or the one CM offers which I did testing with. After testing I was pretty meh about it and decided to go with the lower cost solenoid and pass that savings on to our customers. But either works fine and in the end does about the same thing. I don't fault customers for getting the high speed solenoid as it's only $125 more retail. My only complaint was the overall cost of their kit considering what you get. As usual I just designed the kind of kit I would want at the price I would be willing to pay for it and now have a couple hundred customers waiting for us to finish production.Last edited by Terry@BMS; 07-15-2011 at 03:15 PM.

We don't spin the pump up until you get to around 7psi. I think Vishnu said they spin it up at 5psi. But even if the pump is off, post install, it holds full pressure in the line. The low cost solenoid gives a more limited amount of control when pulsed. Instead of a blender with a 1-50 setting like you have with the high speed solenoid, you have a blender with a low-medium-high setting. But in the real world everyone just uses high anyway. So any setting below that is academic.

Thats not what the question at hand was about. My comment was simply to inform the poster that saying "PPS" vs "PWM" was not correct. That would be like trying to compare an Oak table to a Pine table and saying "whats the difference between oak and a table". The poster (dont remember who it was now) Is not at fault, the other company has been parading the word "PWM" around like they have some sort of patent.
The correct way would have been to say "What is the difference between Progressive pump systems and Progressive valve systems?".

thanks terry car really feels amazing. What i love about it is that its so smooth. No jerking or anything the car just feels so much faster.
