Thinking about an M5
This car has got me thinking... I need an E34 M5.

It's probably got somewhat high miles, but it looks like it's been maintained very well. Plus, the thought of having an S38 and a handbuilt car is .

Just need to fix that bumper trim and fog light and swap out the low beams to matching ones.

I love that car. We are in the process of rebuilding an s38 for a customer now. The timing chain guide rail pin hole in the block cracked. We ordered an engine block with pistons from BMW. The customer wants it to be stock. Knowing when we ordered this the block BMW only had 2 short blocks in Germany. The first that the dealer delivered to us was cracked. We just got the second block yesterday................ And thank you lord it is ok. We will have is pretty car back on the road soon for our customer. Will provide pics later. Oh and the way BMW shipped the block was in a plastic bag in a box. Are you F#$%ing kidding me that is the last one and the box was destroyed by the time it got to our shop. . Good luck on purchasing such a nice car.

I almost bought one years ago, wish I had, it was a beautiful car. I just couldn't deal with the parts availability for the S38 being so limited.

Thanks for the info, that's crazy! That's the stuff I would be scared about.
+1, love the subtle class these M5s have.
Yeah, I agree, that is the part that scares me. Love the motor, but the price for replacement parts/maintenance is worrisome.

I was thinking about selling my current car and going for it, but I hate to jump out mid project. Plus this would be my only car! Scary thought.

An E34 with an M5X motor would make more sense but unfortunately it wouldn't feel special enough to swap my car for unless it was turbo'd.

S38 + ITB =
But i never liked E34 body shape, the boot lid is too long, E28 is my favorite 5er so far.

Yeah, to be fair, the car I was looking at was also:
Daytona violet
2 tone BMW individual microsuede (or whatever they called it) interior
S38b38 (aka a grey market car)
I figured not only would I not be able to afford S38b36 parts, but if anything happened that was unique to the s38b38 I was screwed. I wasn't near the mechanic I am now, nor did I have the position in life to support the car, but any car like this can become a tough car to daily pretty fast.
