One of the luckiest days of my life!

So it's a beautiful day here today about 65F and sunny, not a cloud in the sky.
I'm working from home all day because I'm leaving tonight to head to Lime Rock for my long awaited AMG Driving Academy.
That's awesome, but that is NOT why it is one of my luckiest days:

So I was traveling on the highway this morning heading home and I was traveling with traffic around 80 mph and a new Ford Taurus came up on me and tail gated me to move over.
I moved and he was going 90ish. He then slowed down to 80ish and I passed by--we did this a couple times and finally there was a nice open strech with no cars and I decided to lose this guy.
Lets just say I went WOT for a little while, use your imagination on the speedClick here to enlarge
So next thing I know, that guy is on my bumper and I'm like WTF.
Then the blue lights and siren--Click here to enlarge
I'm looking in the rear view and he points for me to pull over.
I did and he came to my window (dressed in shirt and tie) and shows me his badge.
He asks me why I was going over a 100mph and I said, "well there's no good reason to do so" and I apoligized and told him I wasn't trying to be a jerk.Click here to enlarge
He asked for my license and then asked if it was a new car and I said, "yeah, kinda."
I told him again, "I wasn't trying to be a jerk, I'm sorry."
He then said, you seem like a good guy (called me by my name) and said have a good day and handed me back my licenseClick here to enlarge

That has to be the coolest officer I've ever encountered (granted he wasn't a patrol officer) and if I ever meet that guy again, I owe him a bottle of whatever he wants to drink, anythingClick here to enlarge

Let's just say, positive reinforcement works for me--I will be traveling the speed limit for a long while--until I get to the race track tomorrowClick here to enlarge

Just wanted to share my story, not all cops are pricks--I guess I should go buy a lottery ticket todayClick here to enlarge

Glad the whole thing turned out alright for you. At least there are some reasonable officers out there. Good luck at the track

Of course not all cops are pricks, and they tend to be nicer when you're not an ass when they pull you over. Similar thing happened to me when I was coming back from hanging out with my buddies. I was on a blvd in an industrial area and this truck wants to race, so we get going and we're doing about 80 and I'm killing that truck. Then he decides to take the entrance ramp to the freeway so I get off the gas and start slowing down when I see red and blue lights behind me. Cop did the exact same thing he did to you, asked me if there was a reason I was going so fast then let me go - biggest relief ever, lol.

On the bright side you're going to LOVE Limerock, I know I do. I used to race SCCA races there and it's a really fun course. Have fun and be safe

    Yeah I was really lucky.
The crusiser had regular plates, no tints or antennas.
The blue lights were hidden in the tint strip in the windshield.
The new Taurus is apparently their new cars, watch out.

I was fully expecting to go to jail and dish out thousands, but he let me go.
I'm sure he didn't have radar because he said I was going over 100mph--it was just a bit faster then thatClick here to enlarge

Anyway, hopefully the luck will translate to the track tomorrowClick here to enlarge

I'm not sure about this, but are unmarked cars allowed to pull you over the highway?

Glad you were able to talk your way out of it in a respectful manner. I just had a brief run-in with the fuzz and got a lucky break last night as well! I was coming home from my sisters house maybe 10 mins away from my house. I am on a long open stretch witch the speed limit was 50mph, I was just anxious to get home and get some rest at the time, went around a bend on the three lane street going 68 ish. I see lights flash in front of me and slow to a roll and approach a turn signal. He is right behind me at this point and I am about 90% sure he is going to get me. I take the turn and go into the nearest shopping center only to watch him speed off in the other direction. Phewwwwww, not gonna speed on public roads for a while! Still I have never been pulled over, only parking tickets.

It's awesome that you didn't get a ticket but I'm not sure it was luck. I once got stopped by a DT while I was doing about 115 and swerving heavily through traffic(chill I was 18 and in my mind it was because of an emergency) anyways he stopped me and bitched me out but he told me he couldn't give me the ticket he wanted(reckless driving) because since
It was a misdemeanor I would have to retain a lawyer and since he wasn't a patrol cop he had no radar or car camera and wouldn't hold up in court. I instead received 2 fix it tickets for my loud exhaust and tints.

Not sure about this but I read somewhere you can procede slowly to a police station or to a marked officers car for safety. Sounds like bs though but if anyone can get a blue strobe and pull you over it's kind of scary for women.

    Man your lucky!!!!!
I got pulled over doing over 100 but was not as lucky as you.
I was on open stretch of Highway in my Jeep SRT8 and decided to floor.
He was off the highway with his radar cost me 800$ fine, stage 2 driving school and my license suspended for a month.
