4-2-10 MIR drag racing photos/videos
If you have any to add, please do so!
================================================== ===
Had a great day yesterday as a spectator down at MIR, some seriously fast and beautiful cars, good friends, and GREAT weather. Warmest day of the year was amazing to be outside for, but the cars certainly didnt get the best air and DA for huge power and quick ET's. The track prep seemed to be fantastic as it normally is at MIR.
I'm slowly uploading video as time allows, they will be posted at the bottom.
On the way down, Adams ESS s/c M5 cruising along

Wow man, what a thread!
Your girl is super cute as well, congrats.
Vids, pics, everything.
Any way to get the CLK55 guy here? I want to to ask him about his setup and how he feels about running bias-ply.

Hi Sticky. Matt asked me to sign up over here to help answer your questions. If you could be more specific I can give you a more detailed response. I switched to bias ply tired because I was snapping axles like twigs. The bias plys wrinkle and soften the impact on the drivetrain so I can launch harder without breaking. I have yet to launch the car off the stall in fear of breaking so I have about 4-500rpms left on the stall. What you gain in the 60' and drivetrain protection you lose in mph. That is a trade I'm willing to make. If you watch the tire on my pass you can see there is a good amount of wrinkle. Oh yea, and I definitely don't recommend mixing bias ply and raidal tires! Some people do it but I hate the way it feels and it is dangerous in my opinion.
Edit: just realized Matt posted the same HPF vid twice by accident and not mine. Here it isLast edited by Blackbenzz; 04-04-2010 at 01:03 PM.

Welcome! Thanks for joining, I had a few questions. I asked you in a PM on Mbworld but politics got in the way
Thanks for the info, what radial were you running before switching and what was the 60 foot vs. the bias-ply? Do you feel the bias-ply are less stable up top?

Wow thanks! Means alot coming from you!!! Unfortunately most of the day I was either running my car, talking to others, or running the event so I wasn't able to keep track of the cars. There were about 40 cars at the event.
No prob. I don't remember what you are talking about.
Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial. Well I had more mods when I switched so it is not a fair comparison. I was breaking axles in between 1.55ish 60's though. They are less stable up top but as long as you dont mix with radials you will be fine

I see what you are saying. So if I do bias-ply all the way around I should not be apprehensive about making the switch? I've considered it before but kept hearing people say the stability is bad up top and I was concerned about losing control or swerving into something at high speed.

If you do bias ply all the way around you will be fine. Do some shake down passes to see how it feels and then once you are comfortable with it go all out. I would only run those tires at the track, they suck for turns and rain lol. Make the switch, youcan thank me later lol
