Why? Why not apparently. Ford has so many truck motors available you have to wonder what the point of this new engine is. It is the largest naturally aspirated gasoline V8 in its class and the largest motor for sale now that the Viper 8.4 liter V10 is no longer produced.

What is special about the motor? A cast-iron block. The crankshaft is forged.

It is a pushrod V8 with two valve cylinder heads. It certainly is not designed to be a revver.

The technology feels like step back but cam in block motors tends to be reliable and easy to maintain.

Ford says the motor will fit in the F-150 and Mustang although seeing it in a car is highly unlikely unless someone does a fun build.

Power and torque specs are not yet available but maybe tuners will have some fun using this engine as a base for projects.
