We have seen this same Porsche 991 Turbo S Cabriolet run against a 458 Italia before on the runway. In that particular race, the Porsche 991 Turbo S Cabriolet comes out on top of the prancing horse rather easily. This 458 is the Speciale model though and it is meaner and lighter than the standard 458 Italia. The naturally aspirated 4.5 liter V8 gets a boost to 605 horsepower partially thanks to an incredible 14.0:1 compression ratio increase.

The standard 458 Italia by contrast has a 12.5:1 compression ratio and 35 less horses. It also carries almost 200 more pounds and it shows as the 991 Turbo S has much more trouble with the 458 Speciale than it did with the 458 Italia.

The 458 does get a slight jump on the 991 Turbo S in this run. However, it continues a steady pull on the 991 Turbo S and is clearly the faster car of the two. That begs the question, how would it do against the lighter 991 Turbo S coupe especially if it did not have a passenger recording?

Hopefully we see that race at some point but it is incredible how Ferrari squeezed so much more performance out of the 458 platform with the Speciale without resorting to any forced induction.
