Introducing the most powerful production all electric sports car in the world, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive. Mercedes revealed their green sports at the Paris Auto Show. This is the production version of the SLS E-Cell that Mercedes-Benz and AMG had been testing. The car has four electric motors each of which drive a wheel. With 740 horses being sent to all four wheels the SLS Electric Driver is said to reach 60 miles per hour in just 3.9 seconds.

The heavy electric drivetrain (1200 pound battery) is offset somewhat by a carbon fiber body shell. The car is rated at about a 150 mile range, not exactly all that far. A KERS energy regenerating braking system borrowed from Formula 1 helps regain some power. A full charge through a standard wall outlet takes 20 hours but a special dedicated charging station with high output can lower this to just 3 hours.

In Europe the car will cost $537,000... ouch. No word on if it will come to the United States. This is a very trick piece of hardware and all electric performance cars will be something to take seriously, just not yet, and not at half a million dollars.
