MotorSport Magazine in France got their chance to test out the new 2021 Jaguar F-Type R and recorded an impressive lap around the tighter Magny-Cours Club circuit. As this is a smaller and more technical track it makes the laptime for the heavy Jaguar F-Type R all the more impressive.

The new F-Type R beats the M8 Competition and just about matches the Porsche 991.2 Carrera S:

That is very good but the 992 Carrera S is now out so Jaguar basically managed to get their top of the line F-Type to where the Carrera S was. That is still an impressive feat considering the 4100+ pound curb weight.

Topping the M8 Competition which is maybe 100 pounds heavier but much more powerful is also impressive. How is a heavy Jaguar with less power beating the more expensive M8?

Jaguar certainly deserves credit and imagine if the F-Type R offered its all wheel drive paired to a dual clutch transmission and a newer and more powerful V8 motor. It would be at the top of its class and perhaps a 911 Turbo rival for less money.
