What's faster, the 991 GT3 RS or the 991.2 Turbo S?
On paper the facelifted 911 Turbo S is favored. It has 580 horsepower to the GT3 RS 500 plus the twin turbochargers boost its torque figure to 516 lb-ft. The naturally aspirated 4.0 liter flat-6 GT3 RS on the other hand makes do with 'only' 338 lb-ft of torque.
What the GT3 RS has going for it is a wider rev range meaning it is geared shorter plus it sends power to the rear wheels meaning it has lower drivetrain losses compared to the all wheel drive turbo. This also means it is lighter by a good 400 pounds.
If you buy a GT3 RS to race in a straight line you bought the wrong car. The Turbo S is easier to tune and when making big power it can maintain traction. Plus it does not suffer from the same aerodynamic drag as downforce in corners is not the primary concern.
The Turbo S makes easy work of the GT3 RS in similar fashion to the Huracan we saw beat up the GT3 RS recently. It seems the Huracan and the Turbo S are more of a match for each other.
