I don't know about all of you, but my 335d might be a little too quiet. You can barely hear the whistle of the turbo and the exhaust is quite tame.

I haven't seen many intake or exhaust options for the 335d.
Closest thing to an intake mod I've seen, I have:
A K&N Filter. ;)
I would argue that under WOT, the audio is far from tame, however.
probably going to need to do some custom work, intake side, not much to do beside air filter i would think, and then exhaust, any muffler place can do acat back for you. post some pics of under the hood and lets see what we are working with :)
not familiar at all with a urea system, got pics of that as well :)

Urea system isn't easy to photograph. It's pretty much encompassed by body panels.

It looks like the rear muffler could be replaced without impacting the setup.
You tube has some good exhaust clips of modded 330d's and they sound great with a high flow setup
Does anyone know if the 335d has the setup that opens a valve under full throttle like 335i

wow, much more intense than i imagined.. good luck on that one :)
With the 335d, both pipes are open full time, but it doesn't really matter, since there's really no exhaust sounds coming out of the ass end. It's all engine.
Regarding the tips, I just painted mine, instead of replacing them. I think they look pretty good. (clip of exhaust sound and tips coming shortly).

In europe these engines can go up to 350-380hp. It depends how much you want to push to its limit. The first issue will be the gearbox to handle the increased torque. Then, besides the increased heat from raising the boost, the turbos will facing a extra heat due to the DPF blocking and increased exhaust flow. this will lead to exhaust headers and turbos quickly wear. But with the stock longer gears, and now the 3rd gen having 7th gears, you don't need much effort from the engine to hit fast prohibited speeds.
As for the sound, my car has straight pipes from DPF to back. No muffler at all. It still is quieter and just increased a bit the exhaust tone with a small whistle sound.
Just find the first cat and chop off everything from in front of it. :D

I've heard modified exhausts on the d...just nothing in the states. I really, really, REALLY want someone to take my car and make something happen. I love the sound the engine makes, but to hear something coming out of the back end of the car would be MUSIC to my ears.
The other point of note is that BMW spent a very long time working on the acoustics of the engine to make it sound the way it does, so the exhaust note needs to compliment the engine note, else it will be a disharmonious mix, and a waste of time. I won't have my exhaust being all tinny and high with the deep throated baritone coming out of my engine bay when I'm WOT.

The biggest gain you will get would be from removing the DPF (besides a tune, of course) . Your mileage and power will both increase with this. But, you're driving a BMW, not a VW so I think it would be hard to pull these things without thinking about the resale.
I've been following a development of a E90 330d and without the DPF the car lose about 30-40hp. With DPF and tune it makes 300hp. This shows that these cars is so well developed to work with DPF that to take advantage with the removing you also need to upgrade other parts like turbo and who knows what else.

^ I agree. It's a shame that this is the case though. If there was a way to start from scratch and remove all of the restrictions in the exhaust, the engine would be even more efficient and powerful. The duramax and the Volkswagen guys make a substantial increase in power and economy when removing the DPF. Oh well. If someone wants more power than a tune can provide, there is always propane :)
