Las Vegas Motor Speedway expanding the dragstrip to four lanes to offer Four-Wide drag racing

This is awesome news! The Las Vegas Motor Speedway dragstrip is a top notch location and one of the NHRA's favorite locales. What is better than combining Vegas and world class Motorsport?

Well, how about taking it to the next level with four-wide drag racing? The Las Vegas Motor Speedway dragstrip is currently expanding to four lanes.

Speaking as someone who ran at the previous track configuration, I can't wait to try out four-wide racing on my own. Take a look at the video below to get an idea as to what four-wide NHRA action is like.

Now if they could just do something about that desert weather...

Not the best place to set records but an amazing facility.

Pretty soon it may be the only local option for SoCal people...

Inner two lanes are a death trap. Just wait until a funny car gets sideways and barrel rolls into the other lanes. This is going to be a short experiment I suspect.

They have done a lot of four-wide racing.

I don't see how the inner lanes are a death trap.

Drag racing isn't the safest activity to begin with...

Only people who should be doing 4 wide are pros.

There is a barrier down the middle. I like the concept for running through qualifications, as it can shorten the time and reduces the risk of oildowns.

For final rounds, it does not feel the same as two cars matched up.

I've been in plenty of four wide races on the 405 between Seal Beach and CA22
