I have the opportunity to purchase a like new eaton m90 s/c for 50$. I want it on my e46 325xi. Someone please tell me someone has done this already. If not is it do able at an affordable cost. I'm not expecting massive hp gain just want a little more torque.
You'll save money and headaches in the long run by going with a tried and true M54 setup.
Guys with the M62 are having some success adapting Eaton blowers but you'll need a hell of a tuner to pull this off.
Well from what I understand theor is a s/c kit made by active auto works(I believe) that can run off factory tune. If I run low enough amount of boost (like 5-8psi) would it function fairly decently? I'm new to boost this all just fell in my lap. And could you clarify all the extra stuff I would nees. I know obviously I'm not just gonna be able to mount it on and call it good. If I did a custom set up what do you think would need to be fabbed up and what could be bought. Once again I emphasize on price difference being a huge factor for me. I started asking all this on e46fanatics and got turned away immediately.. was hoping that bimmerboost would be a little bit more open to the idea of a custom set up rather than a 5000$ bolt on lol
This definitely is a place that respects homebrew options and guys doing things themselves but I think with the case of the M54 the sample size is much smaller. It's not exactly a current motor a lot of guys are modding.Quote:

I'd love to see you do it but you would need a tuner and some custom fabrication. By the time you are done and once you factor in the time and expense you will probably tell yourself that you should have just bought an off the shelf kit.

Leave that charger on its own and do something more usable like a little turbo mod. Its not the easiest way on a XI, but i bet its much easier as integrating a huge M90.
Software is pretty easy due to our TunerPro xdf and Logger.
I don't know if turbo is easier. With a twinscrew/rootes, the most difficult thing (mechanically) is to mount it.
But indeed the m90 is too big for the 2,5L engine. It may work on a 3L.
I think, when looking at the compressor maps, for a m54b25 the eaton m62 is the best choice, maybe even the m45?
