Wagon face off: 2012 Mercedes E63 Wagon with the twin turbo M157 V8 Performance Package versus 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Wagon
For whatever reason the US market is not big on wagons. On paper, they make much more sense than SUV's but the market is what it is. These models are respectively the rarest on their platform which they are based. The E63 wagon actually being more rare in the USA than the much more expensive Mercedes SLS. Ok, so we know these models are rare and that they don't sell well but which is faster? The E63 AMG Wagon with the twin turbo M157 V8 or the 6.2 liter supercharged CTS-V Wagon?
The Benz is 300 pounds heavier than the Caddy. So which wins? Skip to the 7:00 minute mark in the video to see the drag race and see the E63 run away from the Cadillac. We get no timeslips though and no numbers at all for this acceleration test. Just the driver making loud "Woohooo" noises as the Benz pulls away. So, the E63 is faster but we do not know by exactly how much making what should be a great and useful review just below-average.
The MotorTrend reviewer (who is somewhat annoying) in the video states he prefers the CTS-V's driving dynamics compared to the Mercedes. Both are clearly great wagons and we are happy Mercedes and Cadillac sell them in the US market. We just wish more people bought them as they are deserving of it.
